You can surely delete messages that you have sent, but did you know that Telegram has brought a new feature that lets you delete messages sent by other users too. Thatβs kind of weird, but this feature is for users who prioritize privacy over everything. To use this feature, just select the received message and tap on the βdeleteβ button. Now, select βAlso delete for Xβ and tap on βDeleteβ. The message will disappear from both ends without leaving any trace. Cons of switching Voice messages can be converted to text for those times you don't want to listen, but want to see what it says. You can rate transcriptions to help improve them.
Besides these security enhancements, you can set a self-destruct timer of duration varying from one second to one week. Furthermore, you or the other person cannot forward messages that you receive within the Secret Chat and taking screenshots (or screen recordings) is completely blocked. Currently, the Secret Chat is limited to conversations between only two people and Secret Groups are not supported within Telegram. Telegram is kind of a big deal for me. If you do not want this to happen and want Telegram to keep running in the background to send you notifications in real-time, you can head over to Settings/ Notifications and Sounds/ Keep Alive Service and turn it on. Final Thoughts Set Auto-Delete Timer for a Telegram Chat In general, Telegram is as safe or safer than most other chat apps. It could be argued that WhatsAppβs end-to-end encryption on all messaging is a better approach, but the companyβs ties to Facebook/Meta may turn off privacy advocates. Next time you want to quickly move a piece of media from one device to another, Telegram has you covered. The Saved Messages chat is your own personal cloud scratchpad for keeping a record of information that you can access on any device where you're logged into Telegram.
This is a handy feature for users who want to save disk space. To access it, go to the βSettingsβ, βData and Storageβ, and then tap βStorage Usageβ. You will find four options: keep media on your device for three days, one week, one month, or forever. To do this, head over to Telegramβs settings by sliding over the hamburger menu from the left of the app. Here, choose βSettingsβ and then click on βChat Settingsβ. In this menu, you will see a number of themes and colour options to choose from. Further, you can also change the curve on message boxes and font size.
