Public groups can now enable join requests β allowing group admins to review new members before approving them to write in the chat. Users who open the group can tap Request to Join, adding their request to a list that only admins can access. So, if you want to create different chat folders on Telegram for your use case then follow along. Open the hamburger menu and move to Settings -> Folders. Here, tap on βCreate New Folderβ and give a name like personal, work, fun, unread, etc. After that, add the chats that you would like to appear in this folder. Similarly, you can add the kinds of chats that you donβt want to be grouped under this folder. This way Telegram will learn your preferences. Now, the main screen will move to a tabbed UI making it easier to use and manage Telegram. How awesome is that? Multiple Answers: It is the best way to settle the score by allowing members to select multiple answers.
Secret Chats Dozens of stickers now have impressive full-screen animations, which Premium users can send in any chat to add extra emotion and expressive effects that are visible for all users. This premium sticker collection will be updated monthly by Telegram artists. Last year, Telegram brought a unique feature that allows you to discover Telegram users and groups based on your location. This comes really handy when you want to add someone to your Telegram without sharing your mobile number. Also, if you are going to conferences, campuses or festivals, you can find several groups related to the place and event just like that. To add nearby people, open the Telegram menu and go to βContactsβ. Here, tap on βAdd People Nearbyβ and there you have it. Previously, it was required to keep the screen open for this feature to work. But now users can turn on the βMake Me Visibleβ option in the People Nearby window so nearby users can see their profile without needing to have the window open. Telegram Premium includes new tools to organize your chat list β like changing your default chat folder so the app always opens on a custom folder or, say, Unread instead of All Chats.
In spite of this whooping figure, Telegram is way behind the worldβs most popular messaging service, Whatsapp. However, it has all the potential to get over a billion active users. Telegram users can send each other live locations just like WhatsApp. Live locations allow the receiver to track the sender in real-time for a set amount of time when theyβre on the move. However, with Telegram, both parties can also set proximity alerts. These are mini-alerts that will ring when another user gets close. You can, for instance, set up a proximity alert for when your friend gets within a 50-meter radius of you at the mall, so you can start looking for them around you. In fact, Telegram supports verifiable builds that allow outside developers to check whether the code published on GitHub is the exact same code that is used to create the app, which you have downloaded from Google Play or App Store. One of the things that I love about Telegram is that the service gives me an easy way to change my phone number attached to my account without making me lose all my previous chats. If you also want to switch your Telegram number, itβs pretty easy to do. First, tap on Settings and then tap on your mobile number.
Telegram lacks the Stories feature of some competing messaging apps which lets you post images or short videos without messaging a contact directly. Admittedly it isnβt an essential feature for most people. Unlike mass-market messengers like WhatsApp and Line, Telegram is an open-source app. This means anyone can check the appβs source code, protocol, API, and see how it works and make an informed decision.
