New Cohort, New Opportunities: C5+O.N.E. Cohort 5 Classes Start This September
This month, the C5+O.N.E. (Opening Networks through English) Program launched Cohort 5, “English for the Economy.”
700+ government and business leaders, non-profit professionals, and media representatives from across Central Asia began their English studies, joining the 800+-strong alumni network. Over the next nine months, participants will strengthen their language skills, build cross-border networks, and prepare collaborate with peers across the region and the United States through specially designed English coursework and professional development activities. Program alumni are already seeing real impact – earning promotions, presenting in English at international conferences, and forming new partnerships that cross national boundaries.
The launch of Cohort 5 reaffirms C5+O.N.E.’s commitment to building skills, promoting regional cooperation, and expanding opportunities for shared U.S.–Central Asia growth and prosperity.

🌟 #RARinAction in Bukhara!
On August 24, the Bukhara alumni community gathered for a Grant Writing and Proposal Development Workshop, organized by Regional Alumni Representative Kristina Mailova. The event brought together motivated alumni eager to strengthen their skills in developing impactful, fundable project proposals.
Led by expert trainers Ikramova Billura and Dildora Ashurova, both alumni of the English Speaking Nation Program, the workshop covered proposal structure, donor expectations, and common mistakes, illustrated with real-world examples. Through interactive presentations and Q&A, participants gained practical tools to transform their ideas into strong project proposals.
Through interactive presentations and Q&A, alumni left inspired and better prepared to seek funding for their community initiatives, reinforcing their role as changemakers in Bukhara.

On August 25, USG Alumni in collaboration with local schools organized “Empowering Youth: Personal Development and Educational Opportunities” at the Chinor Hotel in Andijan. The half-day program brought together 56 participants, including 9th–10th grade students, alumni, and local leaders, for an inspiring day of growth and exchange.
The event featured discussions on personal development, motivation, and leadership. FLEX Alumni shared their first-hand exchange experiences, highlighting how international opportunities shaped their education and careers, while local leaders and professionals inspired students with real-life success stories.
Interactive Q&A sessions and open discussions encouraged students to ask questions, broaden their ambitions, and gain practical guidance on applying for programs like FLEX.

Led by FEP alumni Umidjon Ahunjanov and Nilufar Jumayeva, the session walked participants through application requirements, offered strategies for writing strong personal and project statements, and provided peer and alumni feedback on draft ideas.
Through group activities and guided reflection, professors gained clarity, confidence, and a concrete plan for preparing competitive applications.

On August 30, 24 alumni and English educators gathered at School #3 in Termez for an inspiring workshop on entrepreneurship and professional development, organized by Regional Alumni Representative Zulfiqor Djumaev.
The event focused on practical ways for educators to start their own businesses, such as establishing language centers, and on navigating opportunities through U.S. Government–funded exchange programs. Alumni led a session on successfully completing exchange program applications, sharing valuable tips with participants. An ESN Mentor and C5+O.N.E Ed Program participant introduced the concept of constructive reflection, offering useful strategies for professional growth. In addition, an alumnus and Principal of School #3 shared his experience with writing strong grant proposals, providing educators with actionable skills to bring their ideas to life.
The workshop offered participants both practical knowledge and the chance to network, exchange experiences, and gain confidence to pursue both entrepreneurial and academic opportunities.
