If we let the fascists consolidate power in the US—if they manage to defeat the American people—the next stage will be ruinous war. Their brand of politics depends on always mobilizing against an enemy.
That is what happened in Russia under Putin.
Already, in 2022, we understood that the invasion of Ukraine represented a looming possible future for all of us. It would never have been possible for Putin to sacrifice hundreds of thousands on the altar of war if he had not spent the preceding decade crushing every social movement in Russia.
