On March 17, 1970, the Oakland Tribune printed an article entitled “Black Power.” It was a report of an interview with Anton LaVey, Founder and High Priest of the Church of Satan in San Francisco. The Oakland Tribune reports:

“LaVey, who affects a clerical collar and the title ‘Reverend,’ — ‘It's as valid as most titles today’ — is really a very mild-mannered fellow, a devoted father and husband who has come rather later to, uh, religion after a catholic background… And what, pray tell, IS Satanism? LaVey has several definitions for it, among them ‘group therapy from a Machiavellian viewpoint,’… LaVey claims 70,000 ‘active’ Satanists in the Church, plus 100,000 ‘crypto-satanists,’ mostly between the ages of 20 and 40, tone any more odd than computer programmers, cops, sociologists or prisoners… LaVey is a favorite speaker at the University of San Francisco, where ‘The Jesuits are my greatest audience.’”

Karla LaVey Invited to Speak at the Jesuit University of Santa Clara.

Karla LaVey is the eldest child of Anton LaVey, the founder of the notorious “Church” of Satan. Following LaVey’s death, legal disputes arose between Karla and Blanche Barton (LaVey’s mistress) over who would receive the ownership of the “Church” of Satan organization. To make a long story short, Barton was granted rights to the corporation of the “Church” of Satan. As a result, Karla, who was the former High Priestess of her father’s “Church,” founded the First Satanic “Church.” She believes that her “Church” faithfully follows the legacy of her father and is a re-establishment” of the original organization.

Karla, like her father, was invited to speak at a Jesuit University. Observe the following:

A periodical appearing in the publication known as The Review of the News, entitled “A Satanist On Campus” tells of the time when Karla LaVey was personally invited to speak at the Jesuits’ Santa Clara University. The article is captioned as follows, “Satanist’s daughter gets $500 from Catholic university.”

“A second-generation Satanist, Carla LaVey, was recently invited to speak at the University of Santa Clara in California, a Jesuit-run Catholic university. At the invitation of the Associated Students of the University, Ms. LaVey was offered a fee of $500 to discuss the strange beliefs of the Satanic church in San Francisco which was established by her father, Anton LaVey, who calls himself the ‘black Pope.’"

So not only was Anton LaVey’s daughter invited to give a lecture at the Jesuit Order’s Santa Clara University, but she was paid to do so! Allow me to remind the reader that $500 in 1976 had much more purchasing power than it does today. Adjusted for inflation, Karla LaVey received what is equivalent to $2,842 for giving a single speech at Santa Clara!

Next, we quote from Santa Clara University’s official yearbook, The Redwood:

“Winter Quarter '76 brought a surprising number of unexpected problems for ¹ASUSC President Chris Nance… As the person representing the student body Nance received outside pressure against February's guest speaker Karla LaVey, High Priestess of the Church of Satan. Nance refused to censor her presentation, stating that she had been invited to Santa Clara by the ASUSC.”

Notice that Nance, the head of the student body at Santa Clara received OUTSIDE pressure against letting Karla LaVey speak, not INSIDE pressure. That means that neither the faculty, nor the students protested against the invitation. Only those outside of the university objected, which is a very telling detail. As a matter of fact, the students themselves invited her!
