Today, I was a substitute teacher for 2 groups back to back. Despite being tired at the end, I really enjoyed interacting with students in class. Maybe it is time to launch my own face to face classes after a long break.

What is a “slip” and how is it different from a “mistake”?

Even though the video was meant to be funny, it effectively illustrates some of the common mistakes at a native speaker level. #GrammarNazi

The public band descriptors for IELTS SPEAKING clearly state that a band 9.0 candidate produces consistently accurate structures apart from slips characteristic of native speaker speech.

What does it mean? It means that the presence of such slips in one’s speech does not usually prevent candidates from scoring a 9.0 for Grammatical Range and Accuracy.

However, it should be noted that such errors will still result in penalties in written tasks.
