Ever heard the expression “a square peg in a round hole”?

In the cartoon above, Trump seems to believe he has more control over Putin than he really does. But as the saying suggests, a square peg doesn’t fit into a round hole — and Putin doesn’t look like someone who’s about to jump through hoops for anyone.
Lekin bugun JCH yo‘llanmasini qo‘lga kiritsak ham, avvalgi terma jamoalarga nisbatan hurmatsizlik qilmasligimiz kerak.

Bu safar yo‘limiz biroz yengillashganining asosiy sababi — endi JCHda 32 emas, 48 ta jamoa ishtirok etayotgani.

Mundialga chiqish osonlashgani yana sizga nimani eslatib yubormoqda?

According to a piece in the latest issue of The Economist, more parents around the world now prefer having daughters over sons.
It makes me wonder: is this true for Uzbekistan too, or are we not quite there yet?
Google Translate has come a long way
#CommonMistakes

Let's talk about one of the most common mistakes Uzbek students (and sometimes even teachers) make:

I got a 7.0 from IELTS

Why do we keep making this mistake?

In Uzbek, we say:

🗣 “IELTSdan 7 oldim.” → which literally means “I got 7.0 from IELTS.”

But in English… that’s not how it works 😅

📌 In English, we don’t usually use “from” to talk about test results.

I got a Band 7.0 in IELTS.
I scored 7.0 on the IELTS test.
My IELTS score was 7.0.
I achieved Band 7.0 in IELTS. (formal)

❗️Saying “from IELTS” makes it sound like IELTS is a person who gave you the score as a gift. 🎁

Yuqoridagi xatoni odatda qaysi leveldagi IELTS kandidatlar qilishadi?
