🇶🇦 Al-Jazeera | UN ‘alarmed’ at military escalation in Yemen’s Marib | 17-02-21
— "The United Nations’ humanitarian chief Mark Lowcock has warned that a Houthi rebel advance on the Yemeni government’s last northern stronghold would endanger two million civilians and cause thousands to flee the city.

The city’s loss would be a big blow for Yemen’s internationally recognised government, which is backed by a Saudi-led military coalition.

The rebels' advance comes after US removed the Houthis from its list of terrorist groups and stopped supporting Saudi-led operations in Yemen."

🇹🇷 TRT World | US and UN urge Houthis to halt advance on Marib | 17-02-21
— "The UN is warning that millions of Yemeni lives are in danger as the Houthis try to take the last government stronghold. In an about-turn on US policy in the Middle East, the Biden administration is now urging rebels to halt their offensive on the city of Marib and engage in the peace process.

As Liz Maddock reports, Marib has been a refuge for hundreds of thousands of Yemenis fleeing violence during the country's lengthy war. "

🇮🇷 Press TV | Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv to establish spy bases on strategic Yemeni island | 18-02-21
— "Long before the new chapter of relations between Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv, the Emiratis had worked with Israeli surveillance experts and firms.

In fact, the first visit to the UAE by an Israeli official was made by the head of Mossad to discuss “cooperation in the field of security and issues of common interest”.

Now with normalized ties, and given a history of cooperation between the two sides, there are fears that the agreement might pave the way for more repression of Emirati journalists and rights activists at home, and of course, an uptick in cyber-attacks and surveillance operations in the region and beyond.

Shortly after the trip, it was revealed that Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv are involved in a joint surveillance project in Yemen."

— "The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Israel were working silently on a plan to establish spy bases on the Yemeni island of Socotra, according to JForum, the official site of the Jewish and French-speaking community.

The two countries, which normalized relations earlier last month, have already undertaken steps to install a secret station on Socotra, which is strategically located in the Arabian Sea some 350 kilometers (217 miles) south of Yemen and currently under the control of the Emirates."

To understand the ongoing War in Tigray, it's really necessary to understand one single man and his project:
— Mr Abiy Ahmed Ali, the Prime-Minister of 🇪🇹 Ethiopia 🇪🇹.

Mr. Abiy, famous for receiving the Nobel of Peacem, is a Evangelical Protestant, Ethnic Oromo and a Pan-Ethiopian Civic Nationalist, that is, he supports the idea of a Ethiopian nation above the Oromo-Amhara-Tigrayan & the Muslim-Christian tensions that always rocked Ethiopia.

Mr. Abiy is often classified & placed by International Observers on the same National-Populist spectrum of populist due to his nationalist & "jingoistic" rethoric over internal problems while others just classifying him as a liberal-democrat who "speaks the language of the people"

Given that, by understanding that Abiy, since the 2019 Cabinet Reform, has been confronting the TPLF, which once ruled Ethiopia, it is easy to understand where it all started and how it started.

Are we the one that invited them? No.

— "Footage from Ethiopian media showing the capture of Sebhat Nega yesterday also have shown troops in what seems to be Eritrean uniforms. We have provided a simple analysis here

As the presence of Eritrean troops has been confirmed, these most definitely are Eritrean troops"
At the same very time that Tigray War turns into a Bloodbath, as our friends of @war_noir often covers, the Southern Ethiopia is burning as well.
— A conflict once considered to be of low intensity, that is, the Ethnic Nationalist Insurgency by Oromo Tribes, is intensifying since 4 months ago.

Although the conflict in Tigray does not have a separatist tone on the part of the rebels, it is common to see figures and netizens in favor of both TPLF and his allies (many of them being separatists) from Tigray and supporters of the Separatist Guerrillas of Oromia, being the most famous the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA), declaring mutual support for each other's causes against the Abiy's Ethiopia.

So, as we have said in the past, if Abiy fails to win the campaign in Tigray, we can easily see a complete & total Balkanization of the Horn of Africa.
