🚨 Eden Hazard EXCL interview:

β€œA bit sad to be fair (Poch) I think he did a great job, people want Chelsea to be top 4 but it was a season of transition, (De Zerbi next manager?) Maybe, but I also have my friend in Como (winks)”

Who would you prefer as your next Chelsea coach De Zerbi. 72.8% Maresca. 13.4% McKenna. 8.9% T.Frank. 5% 26,000 Votes cast ~This is a dailyMail Poll yesterday
Thomas Frank

I'm not exactly saying this because I endorse or back Thomas Frank, but he's got nearly two decades of youth coaching experience alone, where he had a strong track record of working with and improving youngsters. At BrΓΈndby, he played a possession oriented style, took them to the Europa League. Two other guys on the list are from the Championship, and Frank took them to the playoffs and then promotion with a squad full of moneyball signings. Toney, Mbeumo, NΓΈrgaard were part of his squad then & have improved under his tutelage. They were promoted with the most goals scored with Toney hitting 31. How he's set up in the PL is I think a reflection of the squad he has and its strengths rather than his ideal vision. He's also shown to be collaborative, never criticized signings or about having to develop them. Worked with set-piece dept whose key guy Bernardo Cueva joins us in the summer. Again, like McKenna, you're envisioning a massive scale up job with him. But he's a strong team player, has extensive youth coaching experience, players seem to admire him, current hierarchy has zero complaints.

Brentford played a more possession style of football in the championship but unlike Kompany, Thomas Frank realised that he needed to adapt in the PL & he’s made Brentford and established team.

Watch a compilation of Brentford in the Championship and then a video of them in the PL. He is quite adaptive and finds solutions to the challenges his team faces.

πŸš¨πŸ”΅ Enzo Maresca explains his Tactical outlook ,opposition instructions, defending and inverted wingbacks.
🚨 Chelsea have been impressed by the depth and breadth of Enzo Marescas knowledge about their squad in talks with his representatives.

They were also impressed by his single-minded focus on the way Chelsea wants to play and his desire for the job. His obsession with possession and positional play have made him the leading candidate.

Every great manager starts from point zero. We can't just rule out every manager because he/they have less experience outside the championship.

The Alonso we all want was coaching the youth team just one season ago. Pep did and Mourinho did.

A million miles Journey starts with the first step

As long as it's not Wayne Rooney, we will be fineπŸ‘Œ

πŸ—£ Harry Winks delivers a glowing verdict on Chelsea-bound Enzo Maresca:
Whoever we eventually bring in,
I just hope they get enough time because it’s really draining expecting new faces in the club every year and having to believe in an entirely new system whilst finding videos to justify that they are good only to want them out after 10 matches.
Maresca is in line for a significant pay rise, but his wage at Chelsea is likely to be less than Pochettino’s reported Β£10.4m salary.

Unpopular opinion: As much as I love possession-based attacking football, Pep has nonetheless ruined football and now everyone wants to play like him. You've got coaches having a terrible season but because they're a student of Pep, they still manage to pull the biggest clubs after getting relegated.

There are so many ways of playing the beautiful game but the damage has already been done.

This is exactly what Poch was doing. The same thing. But because we weren’t winning enough games, they said he didn’t have tactics and is always on the touch line like he doesn’t care.

Someone once said he needs to be animated like pep on the touch line so we win games.
πŸ—£ Romeo Lavia on incoming Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca in 2021:

"I really enjoy recovering the ball and pass through the lines."

"Enzo's helped me a lot with that, always being on the half-turn so I can see the game going forward, so it’s not a problem now."
What would Maresca need to do to change your mind on his suitability? What level of winning would be expected, and what level of youth involvement?
