Just finished the game for the first time...

And holy shit. I lost everyone. The gameplay wasn't that exciting but the story. Damn. It was so unforgiving. I was captivated like I haven't been by a game since I was a kid. Absolutely phenomenal!

Potential Spoilers:

I got Connor killed by other Conner, Kara and Alice crushed by the machine and Markus sacrificed himself.

Markus

Okay. I have finished the game and replayed it multiple times. This may have been asked before.

But HOW THE HELL can Markus paint with his eyes closed? Is he that advanced? I'm still so confused.

How come no one talks about how amazing the graphics are in this game?

I just randomly decided to start playing this game yesterday and I was completely blown away about how amazing and photo-realistic the graphics are, especially because I've never heard anyone bring it up before. At some points of the game I felt like I was watching an actual movie, the type of graphics you usually only see in cut-scenes for video games, but I was actually controlling the character in the scene. It honestly beats the graphics of the games people put at the top of the lists for "best graphics" that I've played. The only game I've played that really can compete is TLOU2, but honestly never once while playing TLOU2 did I ever have a point where I felt like the game could have been an actual live-action movie, but that did happen while playing DBH.

How realistic is Detroit Become Human in its treatment of androids?

Let's ignore the science behind creating sentient, human-like androids and assume we'll eventually have androids exactly like the ones in the game. How do you think we'll realistically treat them? As tools, like computers, to be used and thrown around? As companion animals or working animals like service dogs? Or as equivalents to us? Would the law and people always believe humans over androids, as we saw in the game? Would Android negligence or abuse be considered acceptable by society and the law?

What do you think?

No hints in final chapter?

I was at the bus station and had to find a way to leave. Except there weren't any hints?? The yellow squares you usually get. >!Then these guards scanned me and I got killed!<

What's even the point of trying to keep them alive for so long if I lose the game due to something so stupid? Feels like 12 hours wasted tbh. I had hoped the game would get a good ending after so much trouble.

PS: I also got killed during the big shootout. It was also very confusing what to do there. For a game that worked so well up to the end it's super disappointing. Probably won't replay since I rarely have 12 hours to spend and I'd hoped this'd be fun...

Sort of roleplayed Kara to do chores, what about you?

I figured I may as well share this anecdote. I tend to be a rather messy person, and be quite quickly overwhelmed with several tasks to attend to. Sometimes (not lately, I admit), when I needed to do chores or a deep clean of my room/flat, I turned on youtube, clicked on the episode of a beloved let's player o' mine featuring Kara doing the chores, and was doing them while listening to the video. It was setting up the mood, and I was mimicking Kara's focus to get things done. Roleplayed the android sent by Cyberlife, sort of. It worked quite alright!

Have y'all ever did something similar - by that I mean, did something because and/or heavily influenced by one of the characters?

I recently bought the game and I'm loving playing it

I was afraid I wouldn't like the game because there were too many conversations and cutscenes, but I ended up really liking it.

Any tips on how to enjoy the game?

I am speechless

I just finished DBH and I’m actually speechless. Despite its coming out in 2018, I had never actually had much information on the game and it hadn’t really crossed my mind much until I saw it on sale for $7 on steam.

I’ve played my fair share of story games and I’ve never actually been this impressed by a one—the story, the characters, the music, the mechanics, the world building it’s all so amazing and I’ve never seen a game like it.

Immediately after finishing, I went and replayed all the different chapters to unlock all the steam achievements.

Safe to say this game is 11/10 and it’s going to be at the top of my list for years to come.

Why does their hair disappear….

SUPER small issue here okay. To the point where this discussion isn’t even serious by WHY does their hair in the androids disappear when they take off their skin?? We know it’s not an illusion because Kara literally cuts hers and we can see it in the sink… so why?

I think the hair as synthetic attachment that is literally part of their bodies makes much more sense in making them appear as realistic as possible. But c’est la vie 😪

(This post is only partially motivated by the fact that I want to run my hands through Connor’s hair but that’s neither here nor there)
