Shoot or not shoot.

Why when talking to the CEO of Cyber Life is it considered to make you human even though Hank who is technically in charge of Connor tells you not to. This just doesn't feel right to me.

Anyone got a good, interesting playthrough that not many people do?

I've been wanting to replay this game and I've already beat it twice and got the best and worst ending, I'm just wondering what other narrative directions I could take to give me a different story then those 2. Preferably with minimal spoilers lol

Is the game supposed to have small black borders on top and bottom?

Game is running fantastically and looks beautiful. I just can’t help but notice on the top and bottom black bars. It’s not the end of the world by any means but I wanted to know if this was normal? Or if there’s a setting to where I can get the entire screen to show the game?

Thank you in advance

Metaphor i caught.

After talking to the old ceo and choosing not to get answers I next go to talk to Amanda. In my story I don't have much evidence so connor walks on ice. Walking on thin ice meaning he is close to becoming deviant or being shutdown. I love the story telling of this gane

Is there a cut/unused interaction between Connor/Todd?

I am a bit of a freelance audio engineer, I want to find any cut voice lines between Todd and Connor, if there are any. I am looking to use these files to create a mod, or a mod resource, to implement Todd/Connor interaction while waiting for Hank.

Worth trying out Heavy Rain in the year 2025?

So I’ve played through this game twice now, years apart. Great game, obviously.

I enjoy these kinds of customizable story driven games. I played Walking Dead, DBH, Mass Effect, etc. These kinds of games are my jam.

Should I play Heavy Rain? I know it’s considerably older than DBH and I’ve seen some people on this sub (years old threads though) say it’s not even worth playing. Someone said they got it for free and it was still a rip off deal.

Is it really that bad? The premise sounds interesting enough, but I’ve heard the gameplay is rough, the VA is bad, and the logic is pretty Swiss cheese.

Is it still worth playing in the year 2025 or would you guys say it’s too dated now? Would I be better off buying Beyond 2 Souls instead? Are neither held up in 2025?

Thanks in advance.

Anyone else not realize the garden was in Connor’s head through a good chunk of the game lmao? I thought it was a great physical visit followed by a time jump.

This is my second playthrough of the game and it’s been years so I don’t remember when/if I realized this on my last playthrough, but obv the Zen Garden and Amanda are “in his head” and not a physical place.

During my second playthrough, I watched at least 2 or 3 visits to the Zen Garden before realizing that it was a place he could access by closing his eyes and “visiting” digitally. Before, I thought he was just going there physically and then it was time jumping us to him in the car or wherever lol. Feel so aloof for not realizing till a few visits in.

Again, I can’t remember when/if I realized this during my last playthrough. Wish I could lol maybe I knew this from last time but forgot it.

Either way, thought it was comically aloof and was wondering if anyone else ran into that lol?

Finished the game yesterday, bought it without expecting anything but boy I got stuff to say

Sup, this is gonna be pretty long, first of all, not trying to shit on the game nor trigger people, just asking if people picked up on a few things im about to say.

So i finished the game yesterday, got the classic androids are free ending for Markus, the good ending for connor w hank (forgot the name), and the "bad" ending for Kara who gets shot at the border but Alice survives w Rose. I gotta say, I have mixed feelings about the game especially compared to Cage's other games like Two Souls and Heavy Rain, and also similar games like the telltale TWD series.

First of all, Kara and Alice's whole story did NOT hit AT ALL EXCEPT for the beginning w Todd which got me HOOKED to those two characters (I was so excited when the story got to them), then felt fucking cockblocked by mid level writing throughout the whole game (to me it stopped being good after they escaped from Connor and Hank after their first night out). The whole psychopathic torturer who lives in a manor trope sequence ? Fucking dumb, im sorry but that shit was an unoriginal, stereotypical, uncessessary bit that could've been completely avoided/stripped from the story entirely since they got nothing out of it except a slight trust issue which never got adressed or challenged again w Rose, and even if it were to be adressed, there are A MILLION WAYS TO MAKE THAT CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT STAGE MORE IMPACTFUL AND MAKE IT FEEL REAL AND NOT RESIDENT EVIL CODED, they also got a big guardian guy out of it whose reasons to join were kinda bullshit/uncalled for, no foreshadowing, no showing conflict, just turns against the bad guy when its convinient then becomes "family" in an unnatural way, i call that lazy writing. (yeah this is gonna be long)

Then i kinda got the ick for my ending, I felt morally punished for taking the safe/selfish choices at the end (yk w the random couple who loses their bus ticket (awfully convenient as well btw)), since I actually cared deeply about my two girlies I went w the survival instincts approach for my ending run, and when I saw that my only option was to give Alice to Rose and sacrifice myself (which is not a bad ending btw but the buildup to it kinda felt morally bigoted), I felt cheated as the game kinda tells me "lol you shouldve picked the morally agreeable and politically correct options" (Im kinda assuming rn since i didnt go back to see how i couldve saved Kara so let me know plz)

Anyway, I found a few more bullshit moments throughout the game not worth mentionning really, just moments where you tell yourself "Yeah The Walking Dead did it better". Also, I felt like the whole undertaking of questionning what is considered a living being was criminally underexploited, they stayed way too vanilla on that crazy and mind-altering question that could've been expanded like crazy (for example, instead of Androids simulating human emotions, creating whole new emotions which depend on their survival in this hostile environment they live in (since this is how life works at every level), like love doesnt really make sense since its an insentive to procreate and care for the child, however a different form of attachment couldve been thought about since they need eachother to be free and to control their population, love to them could've been an "ideological match" kinda situation where attachment to the other functions on a basis of how much freedom could be achieved w them (or some shit like that idk but you get the idea))

Im kinda bitching at the end but as a philosophy graduate im feeling ideologically betrayed :((. Anyway, good game overall tho, loved Connor and Hank's story and bond, just a bit to vanilla for my tastes. Do you guys agree ?

Anyone Know How to Actually Mod This Game?

So--spoilers by the way--I saved Luther at Jericho during Crossroads. I saved him and Jerry during Battle for Detroit. When Kara, Alice and Luther are crossing the river, Luther fuckin' dies regardless. There's some sort of flagging issue here and it's enraging me. I feel as though conditions are met for his survival at this point, but frequently even before they shoot at the boat, he just flops backward?

I would be able to quickly and easily fix this if the files weren't fucking encrypted in unicode in VS Studio. In Sublime Text though, I can see that it's all in Base 16. I can't read Base 16 cause, y'know, I'm not a fuckin' robot.

I just want to write a little script that fixes it, because it's inconsistent with the lead up.

Edit: I guess it's just time to HxD two save files... If anyone has a save where they crossed the river and Luther survives (escaping the recycling centre route), PLEASE hit me up I do not want to replay the entire game a 3rd time this week.

Does the shader compilation process happen every time I launch the game?

First time playing here. It's been suck on it for 10 minutes and I'm on 17 percent. That doesn't happen every time I play right?

So like has anyone ever actually seen this whole game?

Has anyone ever done a full 100% playthrough, as in all nodes (I'm working on it myself right now). And is there a recording anywhere of this undertaking? I'd imagine it would greatly help later on when I get to the more difficult nodes.
