β Gs-3 : Economy- Mobilization of resources
π ΎοΈIf JP Morgan includes India's government bonds in its 'Global Bond Market Index,' it opens up new ways for the Indian government to borrow money from international markets
β‘οΈBenefits- The following points can be asked as consequences in MCQs in the exam. :
βοΈ1. Lower Interest Rates: The inclusion of India's government bonds in JP Morgan's Global Bond Market Index will attract a broader range of investors. This increased demand is likely to drive down the interest rates, thereby reducing the government's cost of borrowing.
βοΈ2.It can Fund Current Account Deficit( imports more than it exports).
βοΈ3. Freeing Up Local Resources( Crowding out ): At present, domestic banks and financial institutions are significant buyers of government bonds( SLR quota). This move will free up domestic financial resources for private sector, leading to more productive uses and stimulating economic growth.

Gs-3 : Banking- CRAR
π ΎοΈI will try to explain this with a simple story- Say RBI is a teacher and banks & NBFCs are students who have to carry backpacks (their assets or loans they give out). Now, each item in the backpack has a certain weight (risk weight), representing how risky it is - like books (home loans) might be lighter (less risky), while a glass water bottle (personal loans) might be heavier (more risky) if they are dropped and they can break.
β‘οΈCRAR Increase- RBI is now concerned that banks and NBFCs may not be as strong as they think and need to prove they're strong enough (have enough capital) to carry these heavier backpacks more carefully than before as they are now carrying riskier items.

βοΈBanks hold βΉ93,240 crore in stressed unsecured loans.

π ΎοΈImplications : Watch this video to understand CRAR- NPA-PCA- https://youtu.be/GQA3w_cnhYY
β‘οΈ Banks will now be required to hold more capital against the risk of default on credit card receivables, reflecting a higher perceived risk in this asset category.
β‘οΈThis could lead to a more cautious approach to issuing credit cards or approving transactions, as banks may seek to minimize risky exposures.
β‘οΈWith more capital tied up in safeguarding against potential credit card defaults, banks' profitability could be affected due to lower capital efficiency.
