Compound Microscope parts and functions

1. Eyepiece (ocular lens) have a magnification between 5x & 30x.

2. Monocular support that holds & connects the eyepieces to the objective lenses.

3. Arm: Supports the microscope head and attaches it to the base

4. Nosepiece: Holds the objective lenses & attaches them to the microscope head.
5. Base: Bottom base of the microscope

6. Objective lenses: each with different magnification levels. 4x, 10x, 40x, and 100x

7. Specimen or slide: The object used to hold the specimen

8. Stage adjust on most compound microscopes.

9. Stage clips hold the slide in place on the mechanical stage.

10. Condenser:  condenses the light

11. Coarse and fine adjustment : Adjusts the focus of the microscope.

12. Stage Adjusts the position of the mechanical stage

13. Mirror: Reflects light into the microscope.

14. Diaphragm:used to adjust the amount of light that reaches the specimen .
