Year after year, Hongkongers persist
4th June 1989 was a beginning—it exposed the Chinese Communist Party’s violent crackdown on protests and its utter disregard for the voice of the people. The anti-extradition movement in Hong Kong in 2019 was a continuation— CCP has never stopped its oppression of the people.
For Hongkongers in the UK, the June 4th vigil carries even deeper meaning. Witnessing how Hong Kong has completely lost its freedom of assembly—where even striking delivery workers become targets of authoritarian repression—we know there’s so little room for protests in Hong Kong. Hongkong diaspora overseas have taken on a new responsibility: to carry forward the spirit of Hong Kong’s resistance.
The June 4th vigil represents Hongkongers’ unyielding commitment to the pursuit of democracy and freedom. Over the past 36 years, many have carried this burden—some have dropped out along the way, while others have joined. We hope to see you join this path of upholding Hong Kong’s spirit this year. We will also continue to commemorate June 12th—so let’s step forward during these weeks in June to resist authoritarianism together.

🔹 2024年11月30日
列斯手足連線於市中心設立街站期間，一名中國籍男子向我哋投擲飲品，並即時致電中國駐英大使館求助。由於未獲協助，該男子隨後被警方拘捕，但當日即獲釋放。
🔹 2024年12月1日
West Yorkshire Police（WYP）通知我哋，因證據不足將不作檢控。我哋強烈反對，並指出有錄音證據顯示該男子親口承認曾投擲飲品，惟仍被拒絕受理。
🔹 2024年12月4日
我哋對警方決定表示極度失望，要求再次會面，警方其後答應安排。同日，@onyoursideuk 亦加入協助另外再與警方溝通。
🔹 2025年1月29日
我哋透過 Victims’ Right to Review（VRR） 正式申請要求重啟調查程序。
🔹 2025年2月4日
我哋聯同街坊與警方會面，當中包括列斯區域指揮官，明確指出事件屬於跨境政治打壓與襲擊，並非單純種族歧視或仇恨行為。

警方正式通知我哋，批准VRR申請，並將重新展開調查。

United beneath the umbrellas，unyielded in the rain — never forget 12 June
Umbrella - They were our only defence — unarmed and vulnerable — against the brutal force of the police. The umbrella came to symbolise not just our courage in resistance, but also the fragility and resilience of the powerless standing up to tyranny.
Umbrella shield- Though one umbrella offers little protection, countless Hongkongers stood side by side to form a shield — a line of defance built from the strength of our shared convictions, united to protect one another.
It has now been six years since 12 June 2019. Many Hongkongers have been forced into exile, scattered across the world. Yet the meaning of the umbrella shield still lives on in our hearts — each individual may only hold limited power, but when we come together, we can still stand strong in solidarity.
Yesterday, on 7 June, HongKongers in Leeds formed an umbrella shield at Briggate in the city centre— a tribute to those who stood firm on 12 June and a public reminder of the struggle for Hong Kong. It was also a warning: that the Chinese Communist Party’s influence is creeping into the UK, and we must remain vigilant.
We remember 12 June.

[Meet Your MP: Morley Surgery with Mark Sewards MP – Final Call!]
Mark Sewards MP will be holding a special surgery session for Hong Kongers next Saturday in Morley, where many members of the community live.
Alongside him, we have also invited Alison Lowe OBE, West Yorkshire’s Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime, to attend. If you have questions or concerns about UK policy or local safety, this is a valuable opportunity to speak directly with relevant officials.
Issues you may wish to raise include:
– Questions about the immigration policy change from 5+1 to 10+1
– Local safety or policing concerns
– Healthcare, education, or other public services
This is your chance to let your MP know what matters to you. He may be able to assist directly, or raise your issue in Parliament.

Mark Sewards MP will be holding a special surgery session for Hong Kongers next Saturday in Morley, where many members of the community live.
Alongside him, we have also invited Alison Lowe OBE, West Yorkshire’s Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime, to attend. If you have questions or concerns about UK policy or local safety, this is a valuable opportunity to speak directly with relevant officials.
Issues you may wish to raise include:
– Questions about the immigration policy change from 5+1 to 10+1
– Local safety or policing concerns
– Healthcare, education, or other public services
This is your chance to let your MP know what matters to you. He may be able to assist directly, or raise your issue in Parliament.
Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

英魂猶存，薪火相傳！
六年以前，烈士以生命點燃抗爭之火。可惜革命未果，血債未償。香港仍然豺狼當道，光復之路茫茫。
我哋身處異鄉，縱然未能親身到墳前拜祭，但我哋銘記義士嘅犧牲於心！
要延續抗爭之火，要以記憶對抗遺忘，以真相抗衡謊言。
政權可以抹黑，可以竄改歷史，但不能抹走我哋心中嘅信念。我哋悼念烈士，更承繼烈士嘅精神，誓要與極權抗爭到底，直至黎明來到香港。

8.31 6th Anniversary Commemoration Rally in Leeds
The Spirits of Resistance Endure, the Flame of the Fallen Lives On!
Six years ago, our brothers and sisters lit the fire of resistance with their very lives. Sadly, the revolution remains incomplete, and justice has yet to be served. Hong Kong continues to be ruled by authoritarian forces, and the path to liberation remains distant.
Though we are far from home and cannot pay our respects at the graves in person, we keep the sacrifices of our brothers and sisters close to our hearts.
We must continue the flame of resistance, fight forgetting with memory, and confront lies with truth.
The regime may attempt to smear and rewrite history, but it cannot erase the convictions in our hearts. We mourn the martyrs and inherit their spirit, vowing to resist tyranny until dawn comes to Hong Kong.
