🇷🇴 Armand Călinescu, who served as Prime Minister of Romania from March 1939 until his assassination six months later. He was a staunch opponent of the fascist Iron Guard movement. He survived several assassination attempts but was finally killed by members of the Iron Guard with German assistance. The following year, Romania, which had previously been neutral, joined sides with the Axis for the duration of WWII.

American paratroopers of the 504th PIR bound for Sicily, July 1943. On 11 July 1943, paratroopers of the 504th parachute infantry regiment (along with some other parachute battalions also from the 82nd Airborne) were traveling in 144 C-47 transport planes, to be dropped over Sicily. They passed over Allied lines shortly after a German air raid, and were mistakenly fired upon by American ground and naval forces. 23 planes were shot down and 37 damaged, resulting in 318 casualties, with 60 airmen and 81 paratroopers killed.

Ottoman miniature depicting the siege of Belgrade (then part of the Kingdom of Hungary), July 1456. The Hungarian defenders put a stiff resistance and ultimately repulsed the attackers, and the wounded Sultan Mehmed II was forced to lift the siege and retreat, temporarily halting the Ottoman expansion into Europe.

Hessy Levinsons, featured as an infant in a Nazi propaganda poster after her photo was selected by Propaganda Minister Goebbels as the winner in a contest to find "the most beautiful Aryan baby" in 1935. The only issue was that she was actually Jewish. The photographer who submitted the photo said he did it because he "wanted to make the Nazis ridiculous".

Their marriage began to fall apart due to multiple affairs on both sides and nearly ended in divorce. However not wanting scandal involving prominent Nazi leadership, Hitler insisted that they remain together.
They had six children, all of whom they poisoned on the day they committed suicide in May 1945.
