🇮🇱 Israeli commandos who participated in the counter-terrorism hostage-rescue mission in Entebbe, 1976.
This mission was launched in response to the hijacking by Palestinian terrorists of an AirFrance flight between the cities of Tel Aviv and Paris carrying 248 passengers. The terrorists diverted the flight to Libya and then to Entebbe in Uganda, where they enjoyed support from Ugandan dictator Idi Amin.
Israeli transport planes flew 100 commandos over 4,000 kilometres (2,500 mi) to Uganda for the rescue effort.

Russian prisoners taken by the Germans during the Battle of Tannenberg. Fought between 23 and 30 August 1914, the battle resulted in the encirclement and the almost complete destruction of the Russian Second Army by the German Eighth Army with the Russians suffering over 50,000 killed or wounded and between 70,000 and 90,000 captured.

This battle marked the first great wave of early Muslim colonial conquests after the death of the self-proclaimed prophet Mohammed, heralding the rapid Arab Islamic occupation of the then-Christian Levant.
