🔴Every year several languages die out. Some people think that this is not important because life will be easier if there are fewer languages in the world. ▪️To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion? @ieltssampleschannel
There are a large number of languages spoken in the world today. Many of them are in danger of extinction, and some even disappear every year. This trend helps us live more easily; the fewer the number of languages, the simpler the communication on a global scale. However, this does not mean that the death of languages is not important.

A decline in the number of living languages translates into the fact that more people across the globe can interact with each other without worrying about the language barrier. This could open the door for many individuals to pursue their professional, academic or personal goals. Just imagine the misunderstandings and misinterpretations that you have to suffer when you want to study or work in another country. Many of these problems could be avoided if more people spoke a common language, and with the number of languages on a downward trajectory, the language barrier is further lowered. Nevertheless, this does not detract from the real value of languages and does not justify ignoring their demise.

These systems of communication are historically and culturally significant. Language, culture and history are usually intertwined-which means once a language disappears, soon follow its culture and history. A good example is Gothic-an East Germanic language- which went extinct in the seventeenth century. There are many scholars today trying their best to revive such dead languages in the hope of finding more about their forgotten culture and history, hence the importance of endangered tongues.

To sum up, I believe the statement is a false dichotomy because the fact that life will become easier does not take away from the significance of saving dying tongues; the true value of a language is in the history and culture it preserves. Therefore, actions must be taken to save them from extinction.

🔴 On a recent holiday you lost a valuable item. Fortunately you have travel insurance to cover the cost of anything lost. Write a letter to the manager of your insurance company. In your letter ▪️ describe the item you lost ▪️ explain how you lost it ▪️
Dear Sir or Madam,

I am Mohamad Moghadasi, and I am writing to report the loss of one of my possessions and file a claim.

The missing item is a state-of-the-art digital camera, recently purchased from Canon Ipswich Store. The device, ruby in colour, was equipped with a top quality water-proof lens, a portable battery charger and a leather protective case with a shoulder strap attached.

On 7 Jan 2020, during my recent visit to Auckland, New zealand, I had the device snatched while photographing the suburban landscape. The incident ocurred despite all the precautionary measures I had taken before starting to shoot.A copy of the theft report to the local police station is enclosed to this letter.

Based on my insurance policy, I am fully insured against the loss of all valuables on all trips, regardless of whether domestic or international. I hereby would like to claim compensation for the stolen item, which is worth 650£, according to the official purchase receipt, also attached to this letter.

Should you need further documents, feel free to contact me.

Yours Faithfully,

Mohamad Moghadasi
