Event: Presidential Seminar: “The Enduring Legacy and Impact of the U.S. Government's Point Four Program in Ethiopia”

Dr. Gebisa is an Ethiopian-American agro-geneticist and executive director of the Center for Global Food Security at Purdue University. Dr. Gebisa was born in Wollonkomi, Ethiopia and studied at Jimma Agricultural and Technical School (now Jimma University) and Alemaya College of Agriculture (now Haramaya University), both established by Oklahoma State University in the 1950’s under the U.S. government’s Point Four program. Dr. Gebisa received a U.S. government scholarship in 1976 to continue his studies at Purdue University, where he has made his career. Dr. Gebisa’s research on sorghum has made groundbreaking contributions in agriculture, sustainability, and global food security. We are thrilled to welcome back Dr. Gebisa Ejeta to Ethiopia.
