Rayan Cherki is on the hunt for the Ballon d'Or 👀

"When you see Rodri, he won the Ballon d'Or here," Cherki said in an interview at City's Cup World Cup base in Florida.

"It's clear that with Manchester City it's possible and I am here for this. I want to win and I think Manchester City wants to win it all. For me that's better."

Andrea Cambiaso on whether Pep Guardiola has called since January: “No... I haven’t received any calls, maybe my agents have. Only death is certain in life, but I’m happy [at @Juventus]. Napoli showed interest in Jack Grealish in January and Antonio Conte rates him but they are yet to make a move this summer. The Serie A champions will not match Grealish’s wages and it could be that Man City would have to fund as much as 50% of the salary to make a move realistic.

Man City are optimistic they will receive offers to sell Grealish permanently, but other sources believe an initial loan move is more likely. It is unclear whether Grealish has a preference in terms of his next move.

Tottenham are not expected to enter the race to sign Grealish.

Tijjani Reijnders: “I’ve watched clips of Kevin De Bruyne a lot but Ilkay Gundogan is someone I can learn a lot from. It’s nice to see him nearby, the way he does it.

Pep Guardiola on the appointment of Pep Lijnders: “We had a conversation with Jurgen [Klopp] but not about Pep Lijnders. We talk about another subject, it was a long conversation and in a certain moment I suggested I was thinking about Pep and he gave me his opinion that was so high, he was his right hand in one of the most successful periods of Liverpool in the past years.

After I took time to decide, to reflect, and after I was in touch with Pep. I asked permission to Jurgen of course, because I didn’t want to interfere much - I said to him if it will be a problem to talk to him and he said ‘absolutely not’ so I talk to him and we talked a little bit and in one or two days we decide ‘okay, let’s try to [make it happen]’.

His knowledge, I drink from his knowledge every day since we met. We talk a lot about tactics, about football, about training sessions, and many things. It has been so inspiring for me and I’m really pleased for that.”

Pep Guardiola on why he decided to put @Erling_Haaland in the leadership group: “He’s so young but he has to start to learn what it means to be a captain, because he will be here hopefully for many, many years - that’s why sooner or later he will take that position as the first [captain].”

Pep Guardiola: “[Being a] captain can be complicated sometimes but at the same time it’s so simple.

You have to put the team, your team mates, the club always in front of you always, all the time. You have to ask [yourself] all the time ‘what is the best for the team?’, and you decide what is best for the team, you will never make a mistake, never, ever.

This is what the captains have to do.”
