Pro-tip: If you're having trouble getting Gemini to generate images in anything but a 1:1 aspect ratio, just add a blank white image with the aspect ratio you want & it'll just work.

Eg. using the same prompt, the first came out 1:1 but the second 16:9 because I did this.

๐Ÿ”— Gemini's refusal to make anything but 1:1 square images is driving us crazy

A new "notification summaries" page was spotted in leaked One UI 8.5 builds that suggests Samsung phones will get an Apple-like notification summary feature.

However, this page is actually from stock Android and not specific to One UI. In fact, it's identical to the one I shared a while back.

It's possible that Samsung and Google are both working together on this, but it's tough to say right now whether anyone but Google plans to use this specific implementation.

FWIW: The reason this doesn't work currently is because the notification summary service will be part of Android System Intelligence, and the publicly available versions of it don't have the service yet.

My new article covers new details on:

- How Android will verify apps through the new Developer Verifier service
- When an Internet connection will be needed for verification
- What versions of Android this change is supported in
- How exactly student/hobbyist developers are affected
- What Google is doing to prevent bad actors from passing verification

Was it always doomed or was it just ahead of its time? What do you think of their proposed AI agent for Android apps - should that be a thing?

Google recently updated its Android Security Bulletin overview page to confirm that security fixes will now be merged to AOSP on a quarterly, rather than monthly, basis.

I recently reported that Google shifted to a 'risk-based update process' for security updates, and this is part of that change.

Google has published the Android Security Bulletin for October 2025, and for the second time ever, there are no security vulnerabilities listed in the bulletin.
