Ok so the newest piano lesson is going to be about the songs Brian Wilson was obsessed with. It will still be family friendly (no swearing etc) but I’m gonna show a brief interview with Phil Spector. I want my lessons to be practical and useable by anyone and any age. So when I’m going to do another music history lesson and there are some somewhat esoteric implications I wanted to touch base with you to get any feedback. Thoughts?

About to record a new lesson

I want to show some music history thats more contemporary but has the same type of ramifications as how the sustain pedal was used in moonlight sonata or how Beethoven put raw human emotion in his 5th.

Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys actually had that type of obsessive quality that Bernstein described Beethoven with. The simplest melody that seems to have just always existed came from a lot of struggle.
Wilson also change the landscape of how music is recorded. There’s no protocols as a concept without his changes.

Every now and then I like to do a lesson that shows history and context.
So this week is about Brian Wilson’s obsession and contribution to music. It will hit you in the”the feels” which is a saying Brian invented to describe a segment of a song disconnected from anything else that stood as its own meme that he would record.
