Pylera®️

💊 Composition
Each Pylera capsule contains:

-Bismuth subcitrate potassium 140 mg

-Metronidazole 125 mg

-Tetracycline hydrochloride 125 mg

🧪 Mechanism of Action
Pylera combines:

-Metronidazole and tetracycline, which inhibit bacterial DNA and protein synthesis

-Bismuth, which has antimicrobial properties and protects the stomach lining

🩺 Indications

Used in combination with a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) like omeprazole for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori in patients with:

-Active duodenal ulcer

-History of duodenal ulcer disease

🕒 Dosage and Administration

Take 3 capsules four times daily (after meals and at bedtime) for 10 days

Concurrently, take omeprazole 20 mg twice daily (after morning and evening meals)

📝 Aligning omeprazole dosing with Pylera's schedule simplifies the regimen, potentially improving patient adherence.

Swallow capsules whole with a full glass of water; do not crush or chew

⚠️ Contraindications
Do not use Pylera if you have:

-Hypersensitivity to any component

-Severe renal or hepatic impairment

-Pregnancy or breastfeeding

🤒 Common Side Effects

-Nausea

-Diarrhea

-Abdominal pain

-Darkened stools

-Metallic taste

📈 Efficacy

Clinical studies have shown eradication rates up to 90% when Pylera is used as part of a 10-day regimen with a PPI

إيه الفرق بين
CBC 🆚 PBS test?

🧪 CBC is a computerized, automated test that quantifies the components of blood including red blood cells (RBCs), white blood cells (WBCs), hemoglobin (Hb), hematocrit (HCT), platelets, and more.

🔬 PBS is a manual microscopic examination of a blood film stained (usually with Wright or Giemsa stain) to visualize the shape, size, and appearance of blood cells.

📊 CBC provides numerical data such as RBC count, WBC count, Hb level, HCT, Mean Corpuscular Volume (MCV), Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin (MCH), and Platelet count.

🖼️ PBS provides morphological assessment, identifying abnormalities like anisocytosis (variation in size), poikilocytosis (abnormal shape), hypochromia, hypersegmented neutrophils, and presence of immature cells.

⚙️ CBC is rapid, standardized, and highly reproducible, making it ideal for routine screening and monitoring.

👁️ PBS is slower and requires skilled expertise, but it is crucial for identifying specific cell abnormalities and confirming CBC findings.

📉 CBC flags abnormal values and provides alerts when counts fall outside reference ranges, such as leukocytosis, anemia, or thrombocytopenia.

🔍 PBS allows identification of causes behind abnormalities, such as blasts in leukemia, sickle cells in sickle cell disease, or schistocytes in hemolytic anemia.

🔢 CBC includes automated WBC differential, which estimates the percentage of neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, and basophils.

🔬 PBS gives a manual WBC differential, useful for detecting toxic granulation, Döhle bodies, atypical lymphocytes, or leukemia cells.

🧪 CBC does not detect parasites, inclusion bodies, or subtle morphological changes.

🦟 PBS can reveal infections like malaria, filaria, or intracellular organisms that CBC cannot detect.

🏨 CBC is used in all hospital and outpatient settings as a baseline or screening test.

🧠 PBS is used when further investigation is needed, especially in unexplained anemia, leukocytosis, pancytopenia, or suspected hematologic malignancies.

📦 CBC results are stored as numbers in lab systems and are easy to trend over time.

🎨 PBS is interpreted visually, with descriptions like "microcytic hypochromic anemia" or "blast cells present" written in pathology reports.

🧬 CBC cannot distinguish between causes of anemia (iron deficiency, thalassemia, etc.), but

🧲 PBS can help differentiate types of anemia based on red cell morphology (e.g. target cells in thalassemia, pencil cells in iron deficiency).

🛠️ CBC depends on calibration and machine quality, and may sometimes show false high/low counts due to clots or cell fragments.

🕵️ PBS can correct such discrepancies, for example by identifying platelet clumps or smudge cells that skew automated counts.
