On Nakba Day, we release the first English translation of Basil al-Arajโs essay โThe Wounded Memory of the Nakbaโ. In harrowing detail, it describes several theaters of extermination during the Zionist colonization of Palestine in 1947-49.

Translated by Alex Jreisat, the text was generously provided by Safarjal Press, who in consultation with al-Arajโs family and friends have edited a full English translation of al-Arajโs I HAVE FOUND MY ANSWERS (2018), where this essay was first published in Arabic.

Inbox: Anonymous individuals smashed the windows to Columbia University's Public Safety building & sprayed "ACAB" across the facade in protest of Public Safety & NYPD aggressively mass arresting a recent student protest inside a campus library. That demonstration advocated for Columbia University to divest from genocide profiteering.

๐ต๐ธ๐ฎ๐ช TRINITY COLLEGE DUBLIN DIVESTS FROM ISRAEL ๐ต๐ธ๐ฎ๐ช
Trinity College Dublin will divest from Israeli universities and companies headquartered in Israel, the college announced today, after students staged a 5-day encampment last May calling on the university to cut ties with companies operating in Occupied Palestine. This will include ending all investments, commercial relationships, academic and research collaborations, and TCD will no longer facilitate Erasmus+ exchange agreements with Israeli universities.
TCD Studentsโ Union President Jenny Maguire said the university โhad to be forced by student direct action to acknowledge Israelโs genocide.โ
University professor David Landy said, โThis is a significant day for Trinity and for Irish-Palestinian solidarity, and reflects the resolve of student and staff campaigners. However, it is difficult to feel glad when Israelโs genocide in Palestine continues.โ

WE PROTECT US: Last night, outside Delaney Hall ICE Detention Facility in Newark, New Jersey, dozens of community members came out in solidarity with the abducted immigrants imprisoned there. Run by the GEO Group, one of the largest private prison companies in the US, the facility has become a notorious clearinghouse for New York and New Jersey prisoners of ICE. Due to the inhumane conditions a number of detainees rioted yesterday, breaking down a shoddily constructed prison wall. Outside, protestors rose to meet the moment, blockading the entrances to prevent the unmarked ICE vehicles from arriving or departing by standing up barricades and linking arms with one another.
As a result of this concerted resistance, an ICE vehicle swerved and careened into the detention facilityโs chainlink fence, rendering it inoperable for more than two hours. The protestors held the line while the ICE squad were forced to wait for repairs, facing taunts and jeers from the inspirited crowd. After finally fixing the gate, ICE forced its way through the blockade, wielding batons, spraying mace, and running over the makeshift barricades.
The deportation machine was delayed because of this simple yet creative emergency action. The profligate system terrorizing communities all across the United States was met with disciplined and brave community action demanding ICE out of our cities and streets.
One woman came out to support because her husband was inside the facility. At one point she yelled out to the crowd that her husband was safe. What may have been possible last night with more bodies and with an expanded plan is a future to be seized. What may have been may well beโif we continue to fight for it.

On the NYPDโs Arrests of Anna Owens, Sarah Schaff, and Alexa Wilkinson, a Repressive Operation to Protect the NYTโs Investment in Zionism
September 30, 2025
(excerpt below)
On Sunday, the NYPD conducted three arrests and at least three raids as part of an investigation into an action that took place at The New York Times headquarters in late July. Anna Owens and Sarah Schaff were arrested and charged for allegedly participating in the action. Alexa Wilkinson was arrested and charged for photographing its aftermath as a photojournalist and for posting the photographs on social media, alongside their own political speech and a link to a published political analysis of the Timesโs institutional anti-Palestinian racism.

The New York War Crimes editorial collective announces the launch of its 20th issue today, October 7, 2025. https://www.instagram.com/p/DPgxcqTDRs9/
"Who will rise for Gaza?โ the editors ask in the editors' note. โIt is the question that headlines our issue, the spirit of the times, the only question worth asking in our schools and streets.โ
Across 12 pages writers, organizers, artists and poets in Palestine, Lebanon, and beyond reflect on the two years since the start of the escalated genocide in Gaza: the unconscionable loss and devastation, our martyrs, and the sacrifices we must make.
Alaa Alqaisi writes about her evacuation from Gaza, Abubaker Abed challenges the distinction between resistance fighters and journalists, Zarifa Hassan writes about the painful logistics of displacement, and Fatima Joumaa reflects on one year since the war on Lebanon.
WAWOG writes about expanding the boycott of the New York Times. In Italy, a worker on strike promises that โnot a single nail will leave from our ports, airports, and rail stations.โ Palestine Action takes to the issue's pages to address their proscription and to emphasize the importance of supporting our prisoners without condition.
But the most harrowing piece in the issue is at its heart. The center spread contains the words of eight journalists remembering their martyred colleagues. โTheir words reach us from all corners of the Strip: daughter of Jabalia mourns Anas al-Sharif; a son of Shujaโiyya mourns Mohammed Qreiqeh; a wife, the husband she lost two weeks into the genocide; a cousin, a cousin.โ These eight are a fraction of the more than fifty testimonies we have collected and will be sharing on the NYWC website in the weeks to come.
It is unfathomable that we now write about two years of genocide. God willing next year we will write about Palestineโs victory and Zionismโs defeat. As the editors end, โIn effect, it is the challenge to culture, of culture: to meet obscenity with steel, cowardice with commitment, death with life โ to make the image an act, to make the word a will.โ

Visit the FLYER TOOLKIT in the Linktree to download the flyer and for tips on flyering. Fill up your neighborhoods and local businesses to show solidarity for Tarek and tell your community to SIGN THE MITIGATION LETTER TO TAREKโS JUDGE!
๐จSentencing is on October 28, but we only have until October 13 to collect signatures!๐จ
Mitigation letters are submitted by the defense attorney to the judge, asking for leniency in sentencing. By signing the mitigation letter, we can show the judge that Tarekโs community stands in unwavering support of him and demands his immediate liberation.
Tarek Bazrouk is a 20-year-old Palestinian student from New York City who has been targeted by the United States government for his activism. He is currently being held without bail at Brooklynโs notoriously inhumane Metropolitan Detention Center, since his arrest in May of 2025. Tarek has been targeted in the broader repression tactic by the United States government to silence the movement for Palestinian liberation, and protect its genocidal interests.
๐ป๐จCALL TO ACTION: (all links in our Linktree!)๐จ๐ป
1. Sign the mitigation letter to the judge to grant Tarek a sentence of time served.
