On this day, 16 November 2012, Army Sgt. Channing B. Hicks, 24, of Greer, S.C.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kan.; died from injuries suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device and small arms fire. He was engaged in combat operations in in Paktika province, Afghanistan. We must never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

He loves us. He delights in us. He stills the storms of our hearts with his loving touch and mighty voice. He sings us lullabies of joy over us. Why? Our Father longs to be close to us and invites us to draw near to him. What will our response be? Oh, I want to move closer to this God!
