On this day, 11 August 2019, Marine Corps. Gunnery Sgt. Scott A. Koppenhafer, 35, of Mancos, Colorado, assigned to the 2nd Marine Raider Battalion, Marine Forces Special Operations Command, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina; was killed by enemy small arms fire while advising and accompanying Iraqi security forces in Ninewah province, Iraq. We must never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.
