A report by the British newspaper The Independent warned that Gaza faces a total environmental collapse due to extensive damage to its infrastructure and agricultural land amid the ongoing conflict.

69% of infrastructure and 80% of agricultural land have been destroyed, causing unprecedented malnutrition. 93% of households suffer from water insecurity, with only 8.4 liters per person daily, while sewage flooding contaminates groundwater and spreads disease.

Electricity production has dropped over 80%, with outages lasting up to 22 hours daily, forcing reliance on diesel generators. Israeli restrictions have also devastated coastal fishing, and military activity has damaged fertile soil.

The report urges an urgent environmental reconstruction plan incorporating climate resilience and sustainable resource management, warning that neglect could trap Gaza in a cycle of ongoing crises.

Humanitarian agencies warn that aid remains critically scarce in Gaza, a week after a fragile ceasefire. The UN World Food Program (WFP) has brought in an average of 560 tonnes of food per day since the truce began, “but we’re still below what we need, though we’re getting there,” said WFP spokesperson Abeer Etefa.

She added: “The ceasefire has opened a narrow window of opportunity, and WFP is moving very quickly and swiftly to scale up food assistance.”

Despite the ceasefire, Israel continued shelling, including an attack on a car in Gaza’s Zeytoun neighbourhood, killing 11 Palestinian civilians.

Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for Gaza civil defence, said: “They had crossed the so-called ‘yellow line’, an imaginary boundary mentioned by the Israeli army. I am certain the family couldn’t distinguish between the yellow and red lines because there are no actual physical markers on the ground.”

Although 600 trucks are scheduled to enter daily, fewer than half actually do, and restrictions on what can be transported force many convoys to turn back. WFP has only five distribution points operational, far short of the 145 planned to “flood Gaza with food,” Etefa said.

Access to northern Gaza, including Gaza City where the crisis is most acute, remains extremely challenging due to the Israeli blocked and damaged roads.

The Israeli occupation army committed a new massacre this evening against the Abu Shaaban family, firing a tank shell directly at their vehicle as they were attempting to check on their home in the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood of Gaza City. The attack killed 11 members of the family, including 7 children and 3 women, a full-fledged war crime that exposes the occupation’s deliberate intent to target defenseless civilians without any justification.

This massacre comes as part of the occupation’s ongoing violations of the recently reached ceasefire agreement. The Israeli enemy continues to carry out attacks and crimes against our people, in blatant breach of all the commitments outlined in the agreement, reaffirming its hostile intent.

We call on President Trump and the mediating parties to follow up on the occupation’s criminal violations and fulfill their duty to compel it to respect the ceasefire agreement and stop endangering the lives of our people.

We also call on the international community and all human rights and humanitarian organizations to shoulder their responsibilities, to act to end the ongoing war crimes and genocide against our people, and to hold the leaders of the occupation accountable for their crimes against humanity.
