One possible solution to help conserve trees is to stop conducting paper-based exams, such as the IELTS test, and switch entirely to computer-based versions instead. For example, in some countries, IELTS test centers have already phased out the traditional paper format and now offer only computer-delivered tests, which significantly reduces the amount of paper used for printing question booklets and answer sheets. By adopting this approach globally, millions of sheets of paper could be saved each year, which would contribute to reducing deforestation and promoting more sustainable assessment practices.
