Whoa! What an “outside the box” analogy.
My grandfather bought a motorcycle as the family car and when my grandmother screamed, "How are you going to take the kids to school?" he got a sidecar. This is before catalytic converters, obviously. My mother would wear goggles and a leather helmet in the sidecar and the bottom half of her face would be black from soot when she got to school. What an absolute dick he was.
He grew up rich but blew all his money so my mother grew up with nothing. I think she was the product of one of Scotland's first divorces. Then, my grandmother would date these guys and be gone on holiday for weeks. My mother and my uncle would be cooking macaroni for themselves at the age of 12.
She married my dad because he was a violent asshole and she knew he'd protect her. He did. They've been married for 56 years. He brings her stuff because she can't walk. Happy Mother's Day, mom.
