Around the same time on Wednesday morning, Spain, Ireland and Norway announced that they would recognize Palestine as a state. Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris made the announcement in front of the government headquarters in Dublin, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez spoke in Parliament in Madrid and Norwegian Jonas Gahr Støre gave a press conference in Oslo.

The recognition process should be completed on May 28th.

The majority of United Nations member states now recognize Palestine as a state.
