🎙 Russia's President Vladimir Putin took part in the plenary session of the 28th St Petersburg International Economic Forum.
President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, National Security Advisor, Commander of the Royal Guard of the Kingdom of Bahrain Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Vice Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Ding Xuexiang, and Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa Paul Mashatile also attended the session.
Key statements:
💬 Despite a challenging international landscape, Russia’s GDP has been demonstrating an annual growth rate of over four percent over the past two years, which is above the global average.
• Commodities no longer play a defining role in Russia’s economic growth patterns. In 2023, Russia’s non-oil-and-gas GDP increased by 7.2 percent, followed by an additional 4.9 percent in 2024. These are solid figures exceeding the overall GDP growth rates.
• Our strategic vector is precisely to actively and consistently transform the structure of the national economy, step by step. We have achieved a great deal in this area, but it is clear that moving forward is critically important, especially in light of the dramatic changes taking place in the world.
• Annual inflation has already dropped to single-digit levels below ten percent. As of June 16, it stood at 9.6 percent. Of course, that is still high, but inflation targeting continues.
• Over the past four years, employment in Russia has grown by 2.4 million people. Since October last year, the national unemployment rate has stabilised at around 2.3 percent, reaching a historic low.
• In terms of youth unemployment, Russia ranks among the best globally, with a rate of approximately seven and a half percent.
For comparison, youth unemployment stands at around 16 percent in France and 11 percent in the United Kingdom.
• Russia’s economy must become more technologically advanced. We must fully unleash a new phase of the country’s technological development. The key instrument in this regard should be the national projects aimed at securing technological leadership.

🇷🇺 Interview with Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on the "Sanchez Effect" at RT on the sidelines of SPIEF-2025
📺 Watch in full
Key points:
▪️ Israel is bombing Iran and the West continues to insist that Israel has the right to do so. The West seems to have quickly forgotten about human rights, about children — children who are, quite obviously, in the midst of hell. The West has forgotten the journalists that are supposed to be protected.
▪️ Iran is being targeted by daily airstrikes and is responding in kind. So what is it being bombed for? If human rights are the issue, experts on the ground report that they have not observed any violations.
▪️ There are states that possess nuclear weapons but remain silent about them — yet everyone knows they have such capabilities. Is this now an excuse? As you noted, they are not merely seeking nuclear weapons — they already possess them. They already possess nuclear weapons as Israel is said to have them.
▪️ Global media are controlled — it’s as simple as that. They're controlled by those who have loads of money and loads of political influence. So the American mass media are not objective. They're not transparent. They're not credible. They are a way of promoting a political agenda.
▪️ Neo-Nazism is reemerging in central Europe, particularly in the form of the terrorist cell in Ukraine. And the ideology of Nazism is penetrating, infiltrating NATO, the European Union, other countries. And nobody seems to notice anything.
▪️ The negotiation process [with Ukraine] is underway and Russia has been showing goodwill. We have responded to negotiation proposals in 2022. We participated in those talks, but it was not Russia that ended them. The talks were discontinued by Ukraine, following a direct order from Boris Johnson. Negotiations are currently ongoing, and there have been specific results, although Zelensky says these are not results at all. And he said that two rounds of talks didn't lead to anything. There was an exchange of prisoners of war. But that's the essence of the Zelensky regime.
▪️ They [Europeans] are jealous, and that's the foundation of their hatred — a vast country that has never started a world war, a huge land with fields, meadows, forests, immense resources, the entire periodic table, oil and gas.
▪️ We have always been in Latin America with a mission of peace, friendship, cooperation, mutual help. We never tried to overturn regimes there just because we didn't like them. We always supported their fight for sovereignty. We always supported the fight of native ethnicities for freedom. We've always helped the people of the region with education, the technology, science and so on.
▪️ Apart from business projects and transactions in the international arena, Russia has been defending the traditional values that were suppressed over the last decades by the liberalism that Biden and Macron pushed forward, obliterating national identities and erasing the distinctions between men and women. I wouldn’t say that Russia is disengaged from philosophical discourse today. I believe it is very much engaged.

⚡️ Russian Foreign Ministry statement in connection with the US strikes on Iran (June 22, 2025)
❗️ Russia resolutely condemns the United States’ strikes on several nuclear facilities in the Islamic Republic of Iran, carried out in the early hours of June 22, following recent attacks by Israel.
This reckless decision to launch missile and aerial strikes on the territory of a sovereign state, regardless of the justifications offered, constitutes a blatant violation of international law, the #UNCharter, and relevant resolutions by the UN Security Council, which has consistently and unequivocally deemed such actions unacceptable. Particularly concerning is the fact that the strikes were executed by a permanent member of the UN Security Council.
☢️ The consequences of this action, including potential radioactive effects, have yet to be determined. However, it is already evident that a dangerous escalation is underway, one that threatens to further destabilise security both in the region and globally. This has drastically increased the likelihood of a larger conflict in the #MiddleEast, a region already plagued by numerous crises.
The attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities have dealt a substantial blow to the global non-proliferation regime built around the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (#NPT), which raises particular concerns. They have significantly undermined both the credibility of the NPT and the integrity of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) monitoring and verification mechanisms that underpin it.
We expect the IAEA leadership to respond promptly, professionally, and transparently, avoiding vague language or efforts to hide behind political ‘equidistance.’ An unbiased and objective report from the Director General is required, to be submitted for consideration at the Agency’s upcoming special session.
Obviously, the UN Security Council must take a firm stance as well. Confrontational and destabilising actions taken by the United States and Israel must be collectively rejected.
☝️ We call for an immediate end to aggression and for stepping up efforts to bring the situation back onto a peaceful, diplomatic track.

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s answer to a question from the Moscow Kremlin Putin television programme (Moscow, June 22, 2025)
❓ Question: In your view, why isn’t the Western world actively condemning air strikes on Iran, and even seems to praise Israel for doing this “dirty work”, as they put it?
💬 Sergey Lavrov: That’s the kind of thing only the most cynical voices say. Others claim that Israel has a right to defend itself, just as President of France Emmanuel Macron put it.
Defend itself from what, exactly? If every country is allowed to interpret the UN Charter’s provision on the right to self-defence as it sees fit, claiming the right applies whenever and however it chooses, without regard for the UN Charter, then that’s no longer a global order; that’s complete chaos. As President Vladimir Putin said earlier today, World War III may no longer be a distant prospect.
The West’s intention to use Ukraine against Russia is no longer concealed. Russia is being demonised, and even the term ‘demonised’ doesn’t fully capture the feral aggression we see in both rhetoric and actions. The female members of the European Commission stand out in particular. That’s regrettable.
As President Putin said in his address at the plenary session of the 28th St Petersburg International Economic Forum and in other remarks, these are our neighbours. We have no intention of cutting ourselves off from them. But they must change their behaviour. Then we’ll see what they bring to the table . No more vague promises about shared human values or a common space from the Atlantic to the Pacific. It’s laughable to talk about that now.
They have completely discredited themselves, especially in sacrificing the interests of their own populations, as President Putin also pointed out today, by almost entirely rejecting Russian energy resources and turning a blind eye to the terrorist attack on the Nord Stream pipelines. All of this has cost hundreds of billions of euros and has directly affected the wellbeing of their people.
What is happening in Europe now — its economy and the social sphere in EU countries — are a clear reflection of this. They’re trying to maintain this aggression out of inertia, just to keep their populations in check. That’s the reality.
☝️ The West — Europe in particular — has revealed its true face time and again. We are witnessing yet another such moment.
