German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul stated during a press conference in Damascus: “A safe and stable Syria is a strategic objective for Germany and Europe, and it has the potential to become a key player in the region as a whole.”
German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul:

🔹 We reaffirm Syria’s unity, stability, and sovereignty, and remain committed to strengthening our relations with the country.

🔹 It is our responsibility to contribute to Syria’s reconstruction, and we have confidence in the country’s new direction.

🔹 We support lifting economic sanctions on Syria, encourage German companies to invest in the country, and will continue providing assistance to humanitarian and medical organizations.

🔹 Nearly one million Syrians have sought refuge in Germany, and today I am in Damascus to strengthen bilateral relations and once again express our support for Syria in achieving a safe and secure future.
Wadephul: I was deeply affected by the extent of destruction I witnessed around Damascus. It reminds us of the devastation Germany faced after World War II, and it is our responsibility to contribute to Syria’s reconstruction.
German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul and his accompanying delegation, joined by Syria’s Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management Raed Al-Saleh, toured the devastated neighborhoods of Harasta in the Damascus countryside as part of a field visit aimed at assessing the extent of the damage and identifying humanitarian needs.
