“A practical wife.
A farmer in Kentucky fell ill with a fever and had to stay in bed. His wife, who was a practical woman, seized the opportunity and laid three dozen eggs beside him, and admonished him to lie still, lest he break them. The disease subsided happily; after twenty-one days the farmer recovered, and thirty-six lively chicks were hatched.

UUhite people ought to get in touch with our roots, and become stewards of our land once again. We cannot rely on the goyslop produced en masse for nutrition, and thus each of us maintaining our land for productivity is imperative. Permaculture and local production are one of many necessary tools for securing our people's health and future. At the heart of any good permaculture operation is the Orchard. Here are some tips for establishing and maintaining your own orchard:

When establishing your orchard it is a good practice to plant on the higher end of a gentle slope. This helps protect tender buds from late spring frosts, as the cool air will sink down the slope to the lowest spot. As you know, losing buds during a spring frost means no fruit until the following year, so this helps protect them during their vulnerable stage. When planting, space your trees apart at a distance that equals their max height to allow sunlight into the canopy, and add a couple feet to the spacing between rows for equipment to fit within the rows.

When maintaining an orchard, it is good practice to remove buds from each cluster as they begin to flower, limiting the number of fruit to be borne on each branch (for apples, no more than 5 flowers per cluster). While this may seem counterintuitive, allowing too many fruit on each branch may cause the following issues:
1) branch breakage due to excessive weight
2) small fruit, as the energy produced is split among more fruit, it means less per each fruit
3) alternating productivity year to year, as an overly heavy productivity in one season often results in a low productivity the next.
By selecting and limiting the number of fruit per tree, one can protect their trees, produce bigger and better quality fruit, and help ensure there is a suitable harvest the following year. Grow your orchard, grow your family. #UUhiteEggsalads

Do you really think this guy washed his hands after shitting/before picking the food we eat? Do we really want to pay increasing food prices to help feed this guy's family, or are we trying to support and feed our own?.. the choice is clear, operate our own food systems for our own people.
