ዶር አብዱ አደም በሙያቸው የካንሰር ሕክምና ስፔሻሊስት ናቸው፡፡በዚህ ዓመት ኮሌጁ ተማሪዎቹን ባስመረቀበት ወቅት በከፍተኛ የስራ አፈጻጸማቸው ልዩ አውቅና ተሰጥቷቸዋል፡፡ ይህን በከፍተኛው የኮሌጁ ቦርድ የተፈቀደውን እውቅና ያገኙት ዶር አብዱ ፡ የስራ አፈጻጸማቸው እጅግ ከፍተኛ በመሆኑ ነው፡፡
ኮሌጁ ለዶር አብዱ በኮሌጁ ለመጀመሪያ ጊዜ የካንሰር ሕክምናን በማደራጀት፡ ወረቀት አልባ የኤሌትሮኒክ የሕክምና መረጃ ኣያያዝ(EMR) በማስጀመር፡፡ የሕክምና አገልግሎት ጥራት ማሻሻያ ክፍል ሃለፊ በመሆን በሰሩበት ወቅትም የላቀ አስተዋጽኦ በማበርከታቸው እና በተለይ አዲሱ የካንሰር ሕክምና ማእከል ሕንጻ በዲዛይንና በግንባታ ወቅት ቅርብ ክትትል በማድረግ ጉልህ ስራዎችን ሰርተዋል፡፡
በአገራችን የመጀመሪያ የሆነውን Adult Hematology and Medical Oncology Fellowship እንዲጀመርና በስርዓተ ትምህርት ቀረጻም ወቅት ሁነኛ አስተዋጽኦ አበርክተዋል፡፡ አሁንም የስልጠናው አስተባባሪ በመሆን እያገለገሉ ይገኛሉ፡፡
የኮሌጁ ቦርድም ዶር አብዱ ላደረጉት መጠነ ሰፊ አስተዋጽኦ በላቀ የስራ አገልግሎት ልዩ ሽልማት ተሸላሚ አድርጓቸዋል፡፡ ይህን ሽልማታቸውን ከጤና ሚኒስትርዋ ከክብርት ዶር መቅደስ ዳባ እጅ ተቀብለዋል፡፡ እንኳን ደስ ያልዎ ዶር አብዱ!

Dr. Kirubel Abebe, a liver and pancreas surgeon at SPHMMC, has been honored with the "Best Senior Award" by the 2025 general surgery graduates.

Dr. Yishak Suga, a specialist in Breast and Endocrine Surgery at SPHMMC, was recognized by the General Surgery Class of 2025 with the "Best Senior Award.

My name is Tesfaye, health care professional working at SPHMMC. Regardless of the fact that
I am myself a member of the St. Paul’s Hospital community, nothing could
have better prepared me for the physical and emotional toll of witnessing my own child suffer
unable to walk, unable to sleep, and trapped in incessant, persistent pain. As a father and
a professional, I can sincerely say that this was one of the most difficult experiences of my life.
Words cannot express the depth of my gratitude and admiration for Dr.
Abraham, a talented spinal and neurosurgeon at SPHMMC, AABET Hospital. His
name speaks volumes about the kind, humble, and extremely gifted person.
With his excellent skill and compassionate care, my child is now walking, without pain and
sleeping peacefully. Even more inspiring is the full-hearted support extended by Dr.
Abraham to families like mine, from across the country, to bring relief, healing, and hope
through his tireless efforts and concern.
I would also like to extend my sincere gratitude to his diligent colleagues, especially Dr.
Nahom, whose hard work and cooperation were pivotal in, this success. These professionals
deserve more than just thanks, they deserve national recognition. What they have done for us is
beyond words, and we believe special attention and recognition should be given to their
remarkable work, that often goes unnoticed until we find ourselves in moments of deep need and
difficulty.
The price of such advanced medical treatment is staggering in Ethiopia, even to us within the
healthcare profession. If we had been forced to go overseas for treatment, it would have cost us
millions, something far beyond the reach of most families. And yet, back home, this life-changing surgery was an very critical because of the skill, hard work, and kindness of
these remarkable professionals.
I feel truly proud and honored to witness such exceptional care, and even more proud to be
working at SPHMMC alongside such devoted and inspiring individuals.

We did our institution’s, particularly and our country’s, in general, second Radical Prostatectomy (RP) to be done by Ethiopian urologists. We did the first ever Radical prostatectomy 10 months back here in SPHMMC. Prostate cancer is the second most commonly reported cancer among males worldwide. In Europe, it is the most frequently diagnosed malignancy in men. Prostate cancer is also very common in Ethiopia but most patients presented at late stage but currently with advances in imaging and PSA early stage cancers are not uncommon. Radical Prostatectomy (RP) is a procedure that is done for patients who have localized prostate cancer with curative intent. RP was never practiced in our country by Ethiopian surgeon. This endeavor is believed to benefit patients in need and training opportunities in the field. We would like to thank Dr. Teklebirhan Berhe for taking the initiative of starting this procedure. We would also like to thank urology unit, department of surgery, the college as a whole, urology OR nurses, anesthesiology department, anesthetits and the residents who participated in the procedure for their limitless support and extraordinary effort. The patient has smooth post op course and has been transferred to ward after staying overnight in the HDU.
