I was out of town all this past week for work. Got home late afternoon yesterday.

I'm doing OK in terms of loneliness. It's a big change to go from co-habitating with someone for 17 years to living alone.

I'm pretty good at alone, but I'm getting a lot of it these days, and I know I'm going to have to find a balance. Too much alone is not good for me.

When I got home yesterday I was feeling a little depressed. There was no one to greet me. No one to ask how my trip went. (It went well.)

I don't really have any significant in person friendships. It's something I've always struggled with. I'm just a horse of a different color, and people often find me too weird, too intense, too whatever. I get ghosted in friendships.

I have lots of wonderful online friendships, but sometimes you need a hug, ya know? And maybe just to sit side by side with someone and not talk.

So anyway, I signed up for Bumble BFF. I've made one potential good connection already, that could quite possibly lead to a coffee date in the near future.

I'm also going to look into different kinds of classes around town. I'll be going out of my comfort zone, but I've gotten pretty good at that in the last few years.

I'm proud of myself for being proactive. I hope a year from now that I can say that I feel socially fulfilled.

Guys! We're getting brunch next weekend!!!

I am so proud of myself for doing this. I can't wait to meet her in person and get to know her.

My neighbor across the street, who is the neighborhood welcome wagon, kept an eye on my house for me while I was out of town. I got a full report when I got back home.

And I've been invited to a pool party at his house next Sunday, where I will be the guest of honor to be introduced to the rest of the neighborhood.

I chose the right house.

I'm slowly but surely getting my studio unpacked and organized.

I thrifted this white wire rack several years ago, and had it hung from the peg board in my old studio. I had the brilliant idea today to zip tie it to the end of one of my metal racks.

The large closet just off of my studio will be studio storage space, but because it's not climate controlled, I don't want to store anything temperature sensitive in it. So, among other things, this rack holds my larger bottles of paint and paint additives and whatnot. It's perfect, and I'm very pleased with this idea.

I have additionally zip tied a couple of other things to the other end of the same metal rack. No wasted space in my studio, that's for sure.

This is giving me hella dopamine right now.

Some new additions to my gallery wall.

Organizing in my studio has got me really fired up to make some art. I got my Cricut today (I can't remember if I mentioned that I was finally getting one?), and tomorrow I'm going to spend at least a little time playing with it. I have plans.

I really have to make the most of my free time right now. Tomorrow I also have to spend some time getting prepped for my September show. And I've got all that mulch in the back yard I have to take care of. And the house is not totally unpacked. And. And. And.

But I'm going to make room for my creativity. I've got my art journaling station all set up, so if nothing else I can complete one art journal page a day. Easy peasy.

So the woman I'm having brunch with next weekend is a floral designer.

I just started a new conversation with a woman who's a jewelery designer.

I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna find my people.
