One of Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj's most famous quotes on the topic of ego is:

"The ego is just a concept, an idea. It is not real in itself; it is just a symbol of the individuality created by your memories, desires, and experiences. To be free from the ego is to realize that you are not the body or the mind, but the pure awareness behind them."

In essence, Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj is saying that the ego is a construct of the mind that creates a sense of individual identity. However, true freedom comes from realizing that this sense of self is illusory and that our true nature is the underlying awareness that is present in all beings. By transcending the ego, we can experience a deeper connection with the world around us and live a more fulfilling life.

Shiva Sutras by Swami Sukhabodhananda

Ability is an important tool in life. Ability without commitment and awareness is like a vehicle without the engine. The Shiva Sutra enhances oneโ€™s awareness in a way one sees an opportunity in a difficulty and not a difficulty in an opportunity. There is an โ€˜outside realityโ€™ and an โ€˜inside realityโ€™ of oneโ€™s mind. There is also another dimension called โ€˜spiritual realityโ€™. To harmonize all of them is a great awakening. Ordinary being loves oneโ€™s own โ€˜psycho dramasโ€™ of justification, proving oneโ€™s point of view, blaming, being helpless... and this leads one to a state of inner poverty. To free oneself from these lower states of poverty and see them as โ€˜errors in oneโ€™s thinkingโ€™ is part of being effective and experiencing inner prosperity. The profound teaching of Lord Shiva introduces us to A Bigger Container where one learns to be charitable to oneโ€™s own self. โ€”Swami Sukhabodhananda

If you do not know how to take care of yourself, and the violence in you, then you will not be able to take care of others. You must have love and patience before you can truly listen to your partner or child. If you are irritated you cannot listen. You have to know how to breath mindfully, embrace your irritation and transform it. Offer ONLY understand and compassion to your partner or child - This is the true practice of love.

You are much more than your mind. You may think your mind is running the show. But that is only because you have trained your mind to think in this way. You can also untrain and retrain this tool of yours.
Your mind is a tool for you to use in any way you wish. The way you now use your mind is only a habit, and habits, any habits, can be changed if we want to do so, or even if we only know it is possible to do so.
Quiet the chatter of your mind for a moment, and really think about this concept:
YOUR MIND IS A TOOL YOU CAN CHOOSE TO USE ANY WAY YOU WISH.

A buddha is someone who finds freedom in good fortune and bad. Such is his power that karma can't hold him. No matter what kind of karma, a buddha transforms it. Heaven and hell are nothing to him. But the awareness of a mortal is dim compared to that of a buddha, who penetrates everything, inside and out.

The Power of Thought by Swami Paramananda

Nothing is more potent to mould human life than thought. The use or abuse of this force determines the destiny of man. When the thought is properly controlled and directed, it lifts him ever higher and higher; when it is ill-directed and uncontrolled, it drags him down and bars his growth, for verily man is what he thinks." Thus says Swami Paramananda, the author, who was the youngest disciple of Swami Vivekananda

โ€‹๏ธMany Lives, Many Masters: The True Story of a Prominent Psychiatrist, His Young Patient, and the Past Life Therapy That Changed Both Their Lives
Author: Brian L. Weiss

The true story of a prominent psychiatrist, his young patient, and the past-life therapy that changed both their lives. Mind that is racing over worries about the future or recycling resentments from the past is ill equipped to handle the challenges of the moment. By slowing down, we can train the mind to focus completely in the present. Then we will find that we can function well whatever the difficulties. That is what it means to be stress-proof: not avoiding stress but being at our best under pressure, calm, cool, and creative in the midst of the storm.

Kintsugi (โ€œgolden joineryโ€) is the ancient Japanese art of repairing what has been broken. When a ceramic piece breaks, the masters of kintsugi repair it with gold, leaving the reconstruction highly visible because, for them, a reconstructed piece is a symbol of fragility, strength, and beauty.

The word karma is used in Vedanta in more senses than one. karma primarily means โ€œaction.โ€ It also signifies the destiny forged by one in oneโ€™s past incarnation or present: the store of tendencies, impulses, characteristics and habits, which determine oneโ€™s future embodiment and environment. Another meaning of karma, often used in reference to oneโ€™s caste or position in life, is ritual, the course of conduct, which one ought to follow in pursuance of the tendencies acquired in the past, with a view to work them out.
