We’re born and then we age; we age and then we get sick and die. It’s so normal. But we don’t like it. It’s as if we wanted the breath to come in and not go out; or to go out and not come in. When it comes in and out, out and in, we can live. Human beings and animals have been living right up to the present because fabrications follow their duty in line with their conditions. That’s their truth.

A famous Zen spiritual teacher came to the front door of the King’s palace. None of the guards tried to stop him as he entered and made his way to where the King himself was sitting on his throne.
“What do you want?” asked the King, immediately recognizing the visitor.
“I would like a place to sleep in this inn,” replied the teacher.
“But this is not an inn,” said the King, “It is my palace.”
“May | ask who owned this palace before you?”
“My father. He is dead.”
“And who owned it before him?”
“My grandfather. He too is dead.”
“And this place where people live for a short time and then move on — did I hear you say that it is NOT an inn?”

Meditation is simply training our state of being so that our mind and body can be synchronized. Through the practice of meditation, we can learn to be without deception, to be fully genuine and alive.

Remembering me, you shall overcome all difficulties through my grace. But if you will not heed me in your self-will, nothing will avail you. If you egotistically say, “I will not fight this battle,” your resolve will be useless; your own nature will drive you into it. (18:58–59)

"Who am I? How should I live?"
It's only when you are lost in the search to answer these questions that a true meeting with yourself can take place, by staying up night after night until your vision brightens. And then you may meet your true self and you'll never be alone again. Your heart beats with the joy of replacing the pain of loneliness of the small self with the all-inclusive Self, and you become much, much clearer and much, much deeper.
People can't become fully human on their own. We can grow as humans only through genuine meetings.
It's spring, a time of hope, a time when we ought to meet something new.
A time when we should open up new eyes.

No virtue or vice, no pleasure or pain.
I need no mantras, no pilgrimage, no scriptures or rituals.
I am not the experienced, nor the experience itself.
I am the form of consciousness and bliss.
I am the eternal Shiva.
I have no fear of death, no caste or creed.
I have no father, no mother, for I was never born.
I am not a relative, nor a friend, nor a teacher nor a student.
I am the form of consciousness and bliss.
I am the eternal Shiva.
I am devoid of duality, my form is formlessness.
I exist everywhere, pervading all senses.
I am neither attached, neither free nor captive.
I am the form of consciousness and bliss.
I am the eternal shiva.

Sex is the distinction between male and female. It is a mental creation. It is a Kalpana or imagination. There is no sex in the five elements of which the body is composed. The human body is nothing but a combination of the five elements. How, then, has the sex idea come? The sex idea is illusory. It is a trick of the mind. It is jugglery of Maya. It is a notion. The sex-idea is deep-rooted. Man can never think that he is a female. A female can never think that she is a male.

You live in a dream world, exactly as you live in the night. What happens when your body relaxes and you go to sleep? You start dreaming. You forget your body in your sleep.
Sleep is a tiny death, a mini-death. You forget your body, you don’t remember your body at all; you become just your mind, as if the mind is no longer burdened by the body and the reality of the body.
The mind is freed. There is no pressure on the mind of bodily reality, of objective reality. Mind is freed and suddenly you start dreaming. Of course, your dream is your dream; it has nothing to do with any reality whatsoever.

An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. “A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy.
“It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.” He continued, “The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person, too.”
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”
The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

Only from a higher level than physical existence can we understand this deep need to find our purpose and our place in life. Because this dimension is as real as the physical — nearer to us even than the body, as the Sufis say — we cannot help living in two worlds, the material and the spiritual. To live fully means being at home in both these realms, and that requires a way to bring the deep wisdom of the heart into daily life.
There are many reasons today why one might choose to meditate — health, concentration, reduced anxiety, deeper relationships, security, serenity, the creative resources for making a lasting contribution with your life. Meditation can help you attain all these goals — or, rather, it provides the path; you will need to do the traveling yourself.
