🗣 Trump refuses to meet Democrats until funding restored

President Trump accused Democratic leaders of suffering from "Trump derangement syndrome."

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer insists Trump should negotiate before his Asia trip, warning of a deepening "health care crisis" and impending funding shortfalls for food assistance programs (WIC/SNAP).

"They caused it, they’re the ones maintaining it," Schumer said.

🎤 Vance's MidEast trip: No timeline for Hamas to disarm, fears Israel may renege - Reports

During his Tuesday visit to Israel, US Vice President JD Vance didn't set a deadline for Hamas to disarm or say how officials would make sure it actually happens, the New York Times reports.

"I don’t think it’s actually advisable for us to say this has to be done in a week," Vance noted.

He also expressed optimism that the Gaza ceasefire deal, brokered by US President Donald Trump, would hold regardless of sporadic incidents of violence in the strip.

Meanwhile, several anonymous Trump officials told the NYT there were concerns within the US administration that Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu may withdraw from the US-backed deal.

So far, Vance singled out the Israeli government as "remarkably helpful" in implementing the ceasefire plan.

🔍 Canadian military recruitment crisis: Falls 4,700 short of target

The Canadian Armed Forces recruited only 15,000 personnel between 2022-2025 — falling 4,700 short of its target and undermining operational readiness.

Recruitment delays reached up to 271 days — nearly twice the intended timeframe — while a backlog of 23,000 security checks piled up.

The Auditor General warns the shortfall could hamper Canada’s ability to respond to threats and fulfill missions.

🗣‘Ukraine is doomed’: Trump bets on Russia as Zelensky’s downfall unfolds

Donald Trump refused to provide the military aid Ukraine’s Zelensky was begging for to maintain the possibility of dialogue with Russia, Italian sociologist Alessandro Orsini, an associate professor at LUISS University, tells Il Fatto Quotidiano.

👉 He reminded that Trump has always slammed Biden for dragging the US into the Ukrainian conflict, so now he’d rather watch Zelensky’s downfall than send American soldiers into the fray.

According to the expert, Trump sees that the situation on the battlefield has long turned against Ukraine. That’s why he’s steadily distancing himself from Zelensky.

💬 “Ukraine is doomed,” Orsini stated bluntly. “It’s Trump who’s asking Putin for a ceasefire, while Zelensky is on his knees, begging Trump to stop the Russians.”

🇺🇸 US—not Israel—calls shots in Gaza

As the US ramps up pressure on Israel and Hamas to protect the truce, some in Israel are fuming, reports the Wall Street Journal.

✡️ “Israel lost its maneuvering space and its ability to be the dominant force in making the decisions in Gaza,” a former Israeli military intelligence officer, Michael Milshtein, told the outlet.

According to him, it is the US that is now “effectively calling the shots” in the enclave.

🤝 Donald Trump, VP JD Vance, special envoy Steve Witkoff, and the US president’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, have all insisted that the ceasefire deal is still on track.

The US has been warning Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu against any disproportionate response to alleged Hamas ceasefire violations, aiming to keep the path open for talks that could finally end the war, notes the publication.

🇻🇪 🤝 🇨🇴 Venezuela and Colombia close ranks against US pressure

Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez reaffirmed his country's "moral, physical, and territorial support" for Colombia as US threats mount along their shared border.

He blasted the US’ recent accusations against Colombian President Gustavo Petro as “offensive, baseless, and imperial in tone.”

💬 “We’ve seen how US imperialism suddenly brands the president of Colombia a drug trafficker — an insult that offends not just him, but the Colombian people,” Padrino said in a televised address on VTV.

According to the minister, America’s playbook is clear: discredit any leader who refuses to submit to its hegemonic interests.

💬 “Anyone who won’t kneel before US imperialism is quickly labeled a ‘narcotrafficker,’” he added.

Padrino emphasized that Venezuela’s forces stand ready to defend sovereignty and peace — both at home and across the region.

His remarks come amid escalating US threats against Venezuela and Colombia over allegations of drug-trafficking that both countries have vehemently rejected.

Colombian President Gustavo Petro called for official explanations from the US after a strike hit a small boat that had “no links to narco” off the Colombian coast on September 16.
