This is the dinghy, on which 5 people died today, departing Plage des Allemands beach in Wimereux. Police stand by and do little to stop the illegals.

Emergency crews intervened when the dinghy got into difficulties due to being overloaded. It was carrying 112 people.

Some 49 of the 112 illegals on the dinghy were brought back to shore or taken to Boulogne after being rescued.

However, 58 of the illegals remained on the small boat after refusing to be rescued and were allowed to continue their journey to Britain escorted by a French navy ship. One of the women brought to shore in the UK had a broken leg.
