When I share this with general public, I always make sure to first call this European tradition, and other such European folk-traditions, folk-songs, folk-dances, folk tales, folk-art, folk-costumes/clothing, folk-foods, and everything that belongs to pre-Christian, pagan, European heritage as “Indigenous European” or “Native European”, because that’s exactly what it is. Even much of the early Christian European heritage can be viewed as indigenous European minus Christianity of course. So much of the early Christian European era is overflowing with Euro-paganism

This should be pointed out to the general public. Looking at these images where we see a ceremonial, European costumes and garments meant to be worn specifically during annual celebrations don’t look that much different from how the Native Americans stress up for their ceremonies. This is part of the indigenous European heritage
