The Republican tweeted that he was stepping down as representative of the 7th district and chairman of the commission on homeland security.
Green said in his announcement that he plans to start his own company. Details are forthcoming. Green's last vote in Congress was on Thursday for the one Big Beautiful Bill.
In the process of filling the seat, Governor Bill Lee will set a special election date for the primary and the general elections within 10 days after today's resignation. The primary will be about 50 to 55 days after that with the general election about another 50 to 55 days after the primary.
