📣 We discovered and fixed 3 potentially critical issues in ParisB.

They don't threaten network security nor liveness, but are serious enough to be addressed ASAP.

We highly recommend upgrading to Octez v20.0, which fixes ParisB.

🧑‍💻 Learn more here: https://research-development.nomadic-labs.com/parisB2-announcement.html

The first issue concerns the computation of rewards when a baker is overstaked. We thank Inference for raising the first issue, and for their collaboration throughout the process.

The second issue is triggered when staking after having changed  bakers. This scenario provokes the failure of ensuing unstake requests.

The third issue affects Smart Rollups' WASM PVM and significantly increases the computational cost of refutation games (Layer 2 fraud proofs), although they remain feasible.

ParisB 2 is included in Octez v20.0 as a user-activated protocol-override. This means that nodes running v20.0 (and higher) will automatically activate the ParisB 2 patch instead of ParisB on June 4th, before block #5,726,209.

Dear bakers and node operators, to ensure a smooth activation please upgrade to Octez v20.0.

Don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you need help upgrading.

TezBake (a.k.a. BakeBuddy), with Octez 20.0 support has been released! **

⚠️ The Octez 20.0 update is mandatory to support the Paris protocol, which activates on June 4th.

To update your baker using TezBake run:
tezbake upgrade -a

To ensure you're running the right version after the upgrade:
tezbake version --all

(if you don't have the latest tezbake [v0.15.1-beta] OR if you still use bb-cli, it's HIGHLY recommended to use the "C" upgrade method. Otherwise, use the "A" method as shown above.)

📕 For full update instructions see
https://docs.tez.capital/tezbake/tutorials/how-to-update/

☑️ After updating, always check your node's operation using TezBake and using TzKT's schedule view
https://docs.tez.capital/tezbake/tutorials/how-to-monitor/

🔎 You can also monitor the realtime performance of your baker using TezWatch on Discord htt

** PLEASE NOTE: If you've updated your TezBake node in the last 24 hours, please run the update command again and ensure your xtz.node version is 0.28.3

TezCapital TezGov Update

Dear bakers, we have just updated our https://gov.tez.capital portal to allow you to set your #AdaptiveIssuance baker options: edge_of_baking_over_staking & limit_of_staking_over_baking

Pulling from the Nomadic Labs blog post (https://research-development.nomadic-labs.com/adaptive-issuance.html), here are the descriptions of the new baker options:

edge_of_baking_over_staking: a ratio between 0 and 1, whose default value is 1. This parameter determines the fraction of the rewards that accrue to the delegate’s liquid spendable balance — the remainder accrues to frozen stakes.
limit_of_staking_over_baking: a non-negative number, denoting the maximum portion of external stake by stakers over the delegate’s own staked funds. It defaults to 0 — which entails that delegates do not accept external stakes by default. It is moreover capped by a global constant, set to 5 in Oxford, which ensures the baker controls a significant part of the stake.

Non-baker staking will be added soon!

Tez Capital: TezPay Paris & Adaptive Issuance announcements

⚠️ If you are running TezPay in continual mode, the activation of Paris protocol stopped your payments. You'll have to (update* and) relaunch TezPay in continual mode again. Note that continual payments will be stopped again, as a TezPay safety feature, when Adaptive Issuance activates on ~June 19th.

⚠️ All TezPay users have until ~June 21st to update* to at least 0.14.1-beta in order to properly support delegation payments with Adaptive Issuance activated. If you do not update, your delegators who are also stakers may be paid more than they're supposed to.
