They should have given Elena more siblings from all of Jeremy’s weird plots

Jeremy’s plots were good but too many aimed at the same person.

They should have had more Gilbert siblings/cousins and divvied up the plot lines and had more siblings actually die.

Druggie who loses everyone and causes more problems:
Brother falls for the best friend and tries to join the fray:
Sibling who can see the other side:
Sibling that gets chosen as a vampire hunter:
Sibling who becomes obsessed with becoming a vampire:

And other options? Sibling that worked with their dad in experimenting on vampires, and they find out about Stefan/Damon first?

Nina and Paul’s chemistry

People seriously do underestimate Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley’s chemistry, especially when they played multiple pairings across doppelgängers, and still made each one feel distinct yet electric. That’s not just chemistry — that’s range, talent, and undeniable on-screen magic.

Let’s be real: portraying multiple versions of the same characters falling in and out of love with each other across timelines could’ve been confusing or flat. But Paul and Nina made it layered and believable.
• As Amara and Silas, they had only minutes of screen time — and yet you felt their ancient, painful love.
• As Katherine and Stefan, their scenes crackled with unresolved attraction and resentment.
• And Elena and Stefan? Still one of the most emotionally authentic relationships on the show.

Kevin Williamson said: “Nina and Paul brought such sincerity to their scenes. You really believed they were falling for each other. It felt grounded in reality, which was important for getting the audience invested early on.”

He also emphasized that Stefan and Elena were meant to be the original love story, and their dynamic gave the show emotional credibility.
