Stefan makes Caroline’s Grief Worse
Rewatching season 6 and I have so many bones to pick with Stefan for basically fucking it up with Caroline at every point possible, but especially right after her mom dies.
First of all at the funeral, this is right after their first kiss, and Stefan decides now of all times is the time to be taking advice from Damon? SMH. So he decides to take Damon’s crappy little advice and not give Caroline the reassurance she’s looking for about his feelings for her, when it literally all could’ve just been as easy as just being there for her that day but letting her know he wanted to go slow. Did he really need to be The Good Guy™️ sooo badly that he really thought that in that moment leading her on would’ve been a greater sin than making her believe he didn’t care? Whatever Stefan.
THEN, when the fallout of her grief happens and she turns her humanity switch, she draws very clear boundaries about wanting to be left alone, and how she not only needs this time to escape her grief, but also deserves it providing she stays in line and doesn’t become destructive. Even Elena sees how she’s behaving herself and says to Stefan, “I don’t know, she seems like she’s got it under control….”, but Stefan won’t hear it. Again, he is so obsessed with making himself the good guy, and redeeming himself of the guilt of being the cause of her flip, that he just can’t leave it alone and crosses Caroline’s boundaries. He was warned by Elena TWICE that they shouldn’t meddle, but he convinces her to do it his way not once but twice, because ONCE AGAIN he thinks his guilt is more important than allowing Caroline to have what she needs.
LEADING US TO, he lures her to and traps her in a vampire proofed B&B to get her to turn it back, setting himself up as an inside mole pretending to be on her side. In order to keep his cover, this man will allow her to burn and destroy her ONE AND ONLY VERY LAST MESSAGE FROM HER DEAD MOTHER, but draws the line at being intimate with her one more time because oh that would truly be an affront. Once again for the people in the back: this man who has already been sleeping with her, is willing to irrevocably destroy her last chance to read her mothers last words to her in order to maintain his cover, but does blow his cover out of some pathological need to maintain his image as the good guy when she tries to be intimate with him again as they already had been for days. Like now is not the time to be all holier than thou Stefan, you just let her burn her moms letter in order to commit to the bit, but convincingly making out with your almost gf is crossing the line? Pathetic.
Honestly i’m just so tired of him trying so hard to be the good guy he ends up screwing over everyone else in the process. Even humanity-off Stefan is just obsessed with trying to teach everyone else some kind of lesson…Pisses me off.

I actually like Katherine as a character!
Honestly let's be real here... yes she did some terrible things but they really weren't much worse than what almost every character in the show has also done including the main characters that is most people's favorites. Yes, she did manipulative and selfish things to get what she needed but so did the "good" characters and yes they were on the same level of bad things!!! Damon may be far worse as far as humanity and manipulation goes than her. But yeah I feel like she's an easy character to hate because the show tells you to and doesn't really get her props she's kind of a cool chick to me deep down!!

Damon’s bourbon obsession-symbolism or just vibes?
Rewatching season 3 and Damon’s constant bourbon sipping, especially during those tense Salvatore kitchen scenes, has me wondering-is it just his bad-boy vibe or does it symbolize something deeper, like masking his pain? What’s your take on Damon’s bourbon habit?

It just dawned on me that Alaric is (technically) Elena’s step father
In season 1 anyway, before Isobel dies, they’re still technically married. Ric even refers to her as his wife.
I know it’s meaningless since they’re both basically strangers to Elena at this point, but still. Interesting. I know they never address it in the show, but I wonder if subconsciously this was a reason Ric felt so responsible for her wellbeing?
It’s a reach, I know. 😂

If Rayna wanted to kill all the vampires…
Why didn’t she go straight to the originals? This storyline would be way better for the originals than tvd.

After rewatching the show I forgot how great it was!! Here's the one tiny detail I think could've made it even better!
Firstly I want to say what i loved about the show. The actors did a phenomenal job and I love how it started out portrayed as this teen drama vampire love story at first and then evolved real quick into something amazing!! The storyline and twists were perfectly executed.
There's always one tiny petty detail I don't like about even my favorite shows which this show is one of my favorites. It doesn't ruin anything for me or anything but I just would like to point it out. I think it was focusing way too much on humanity and vampires trying to be these perfect citizen role models and everytime they aren't and do something bad Elena and Caroline and all the goodie tissues had to have some dramatic break down and yell at them for it. The turning off the humanity thing I thought was good for the plot I prefer the other ones over the Elena one but those were good. It's more of like the fact that the show was trying to make the Vampires be humans with superpowers essentially unless they were the villain. But that's not what vampires are!! They are predators to humans and them eating a human is just as natural as a human eating a steak! But yeah nothing wrong with having Vampires that want to be good but I think the show just focused on it a bit too much and like I said it doesn't ruin the show for me I still loved it but it's just my little minor petty one thing about the show!

Qet vs Silas
Okay so I saw a TikTok post comparing Silas in raw power to Qet and my question is why?
Technically Silas had two thousand years to gain and grow with his power while Qet only had the power that she died with, and she was still whopping his ass. Even with two thousand years of power Silas still wasn’t touching her!!

In Matt’s defense…
If my ex boyfriend and best friend (i mean Elena) gets together and is in love with the person who killed my little sister because he was bored…
it’s insane.
