What are some of your crack/wishful ships?
Ships that didn't happen, or would have been funny if they had happened. Or people who had unremarkable chemistry but the writer were too focused on the love triangle and fan service of that time and trend, to actually put their head somewhere.
1. Crack - Ansel/Isobel
Don't ask me how I cam up with this, but them meeting on the other side, falling in love, coming back to life and then getting married would have been a fun rollercoaster to watch. They were quite similar in their senses tbh, and with both of them pining for their one child, it would have been a dysfunctional yet happy family.
2. Wishful - Kol / Elena
So I know Elena planned Kol's death. But right before that, the whole chat they had. With Kol going, people no longer believe. Elena and Kol were so much alike, believing in fate and destiny and both being harbringers of Chaos. Plus he has a soft spot for brunettes. This could have been an epic "fuck off everyone, we're leaving" pairing. Driving off into a sunset together. And to be honest, with how hard Elena's life was, and how good she was at dealing with men with no self control, Kol and Elena looked a match made in heaven to me. If soulmate bonds existed in this universe, it would be them.
3. Crack - Silas / Katherine
They both are too crazy to care about whether they tried to kill each other or not. Amara was too cuckoo and Stefan was too morally pretentious. Plus the Dobsley chemistry with badassery added, so hot and epic.
4. Crack - Isobel / Josette
Would have been hilarious. Jo had so much potential, and so did Isobel as a character. They could've been each other's gay awakening, ditching Alaric the self instigated victim, riding off to sunset together. And having a large, isolated mansion off the road where they lived with their daughters, The Twin girls and Elena.
Elena and Jo had a very strong mother - daughter bond to them, could've been explored.
5. Wishful - Hayley / Tyler
To be honest, if the divergence for TO had not happened, they would have been endgame. Esp after Caroline did the jiggy jiggy with Klaus' wiggy wiggy. Hayley understood him and they both had a sense of edge to them, living off of a moon high and accepting each other.
6. Wishful - Amara / Damon
Idk why. But everything Damon craved from Elena, Amara had it first. Her fragility would have kept him in check for a while and once she would've gotten over her trauma, she would also be a super powerful mind controller. And while it may sound bad, Damon and her both could've been neck deep in each other's head in a twisted sort of love.

People who deserve an apology
Zach Roerig/Matt Donovan - He wasn’t racist at all to anyone and all the “evidence” I’ve seen is blown out of proportion. Also Kat herself said it was Matt Davis the actor of Alaric who was racist not Zach Roerig
Kat Graham/Bonnie Bennett - she was disrespected so many times by Alaric and Julie (those are the only two I know although there are more) and she deserves so much better. She is so nice to everyone despite it and she is an angel

STOP DEFENDING ME!!
I’m sorry but Damon’s voice when saying that line is absolutely terrible lmao. Idk how they allowed that and not do a redo of it. It’s not even a yell, it’s like shrieking. I laugh every time lmao.

What are bad actions/characters that you justify for entertainment’s sake but would hate in real life?
For example: Katherine was very entertaining to watch but irl I would hate her for backstabbing Stefan and then having the audacity to get mad at him for moving on and finding someone with good morals (season 1 Elena).
Yeah Katherine calls Stefan out for going after her lookalike but why wouldn’t he pick the nice one over the evil one after his experience with you?
Another example: I can understand Elena’s POV with her feelings for Damon and Stefan but irl I would hate her for breaking her bf’s heart by going after his family.
I feel like a lot of people tend to forget the severity of that because the love triangle and moments between Stelena and Delena were very entertaining to watch on screen.
I know this has nothing to do with TVD but basically: I find Blair from GG entertaining to watch (not as insufferable after season 1) but I would completely hate her irl

How Do So Many People Miss the Cure-Aging Connection?
So, when Katherine initially took the cure she was pretty fine. Then after Silas took the cure from her, suddenly she started aging rapidly and eventually died. It seems to me that's pretty clearly established in the show and yet... I see people on this sub who don't understand this like every week.
And I just legitimately want to ask (not even rhetorically or sarcastically): How do so many people seem to miss this?
I have to admit, my recollection of season 5 isn't great because I only watched it once back when it aired (because I didn't like it). But is this connection just never outright stated? Is there some kind of ambiguity around it? Am I misremembering how obvious it was?
I'm genuinely curious because it's not just a couple of people who miss this connection. I see this confusion so often.

Why did Damon and Elena take the cure to live normal lives as if Damon is not 178 years old and is probably going to die if he's human?
When Katherine became human she experienced a lot of problems with her health because she is an old woman, she's been alive for like 500 years and if she is human than she would naturally live the life of one meaning that she would die and probably soon considering her age. This is not different for Damon. As a human Damon probably wouldn't live a long life anyways so what was the point of him and Elena becoming human so they can have a family and grow old together? Damon probably wouldn't even be alive to watch his kids grow up or to grow old with Elena.
