The double standards
I hate how people treat the no humanity switch as they don’t have to have consequences for their actions, but in the same breath will condemn Stefan for his ripper phase. People love to say that “oh when Damon did bad things just because his humanity was off” and “he should be forgiven because he wasn’t in control”. Having your humanity off, doesn’t mean that you’re not in control of your actions that just means that you don’t care about the consequences of your actions whereas when you have a person like Stefan, who actually has a actual problem and that being the ripper gene, he can’t control himself Like he literally cannot control the bloodlust and again it’s not excusing his actions, but there’s a reason for that, not just because he felt like killing somebody because they cough too hard.
The infantilization of Damon a grown 25-year-old man and his temper tantrums in this fandom are hilarious because his fans will use everything under the sun to justify why he is the way he is bring up all the trauma that he went through but again, when a different character who has gone through the same, if not more trauma decides to act out, oh they’re condemned the hell 😑

Did the show intentionally strip away the horror of vampirism or was that a mistake

Bonnie deserved her own spin-off way more than Klaus. Change my mind.
