Rewatching TVD As An Adult...
It's absolutely crazy to me how many things teenage (pre-teen, rather) didn't notice, fully realize or thought of as "acceptable" back when I first watched TVD. Now that I'm an adult and I've been rewatching it, there's so many things that shock me and turn me off completely from characters I previously loved. I just can't look at them the same way I used to, although I don't hate them either. Does anyone else feel this way?

I hate that ALL women in shows always want a family, children and to settle, like??? And have no personal interests at all...
///Pardon mistakes English is not my first language/// I’m on season 8 and
I never understood how they just made Caroline pregnant (it’s so much out of character), or just made Elena want a family though she told Stefan that she is yet to decide whether she wants to start one... (on the mountain, when she thought she will die and become vampire). Obviously it’s really strange how random their hobbies/goals are, one day Elena wakes up to be a doctor... gosh why? What is the motivation? Like-father like daughter? And then when she is talking Damon into this 5-year-game eventually she wants kids... sure, yes, that’s what a girl with no childhood, parents or safe steady teenage years would want... It’s sooooo weird for me, that we don’t see her actual hobbies, time killers or anything other that checking on Salvatores and saving her/friends’ lives. I guess you want to say she had no time & was in danger, but well we have a lot of time to become a doctor in later seasons...
IMO she’d be better as a writer. A character with that kind of arc should be evolving, their interests should match their life. like she used to journal everything and I remember her saying something about writing a book. Elena Gilbert’s life was constantly on the edge and I guess one day she must’ve wake up and see a different person in the mirror, one that embraces difficulties, turns fear into power, takes her self-reflections, analysis to be a part of sublimation, a part of stories. Embraces being a vampire, using it the right way (like she did while working in hospital). Her imagination must be thrilling... She had it coming when she felll for Damon, that’s okay she was changing and he was the one who made her question everything, but in the end it seems like she had no questions at all lol.
That kind of characters should meet the consequences of being ‘the one’. Yet we see all of them having a kid. I remember being mad about the same topic watching Twilight. But Elena had so much of a potential, she could have been anywhere, doing anything, seeing the world, exploring it, living life (actually Caroline could have done it too, but it was for Klaus...). More than that I don’t understand Damon. He could’ve never been a good human. He’s manipulative and selfish, that’s what we hear every episode for eight seasons straight, but he decides to become human for HER. That’s actually OOC, really hard to watch, to understand and to believe in. It’s not bad to change for loved ones, it’s beautiful and great, but here we got two unbelievable scenarios: one weak character who randomly wants a family and doctor career, though never had a chance to even contemplate it, and the second one who never wanted all of that and suddenly wants it all.
2. Well, fine, we never saw Caroline terrified about random babies in her stomach, that is def weird too, taking into consideration her control-‘freakness’ and we actually never heard ANYTHING about family or attitude towards babies at all, but here we are on random day three years later, getting ready to marry RIC (god forbid me that’s some PDF-files shit). Though I really appreciate that they made her a producer on TV because that’s what matches Care’s character.
3. What does Bonnie want.... I guess we’ll never know, or they’ll show it in the very end of the last season. That’s so weird to. She was used all the time, but never had a chance to figure it all out.
Well, I just wanted to say that I am soooo tired of woman characters ending up pregnant... it’s fine but are we like... have nothing more to strive for...

Anyone Else Notice the Irony of Isobel's Death?
I was just replying on a post about Isobel, and it reminded me of her death. Specifically how ironic it was.
When Isobel is first introduced as an actual, active character it's in S1E15. And what does she do? She sends a compelled minion to do her dirty work and then go intimidate Elena. Having the compelled minion kill himself as a message to Elena to show her she was serious (Isobel admits this herself in S1E21).
And how does Isobel die?
Well, in S3E17 she is sent to Mystic Falls by Klaus, compelled to do what he wants. She carries out his dirty work, getting Katherine, Elena and the moonstone. And then Klaus' compulsion forces Isobel to hill herself in front of Elena so that Klaus can intimidate Elena by showing he's serious about potentially killing her loved ones.
So, basically, Isobel died in the end in the same way that she caused her own minion to die at the beginning.

Anyone else get bored late season 5?
I just started season 6 and I don’t know if I’ll continue watching. I think I’m just gonna restart the show and rewatch because the earlier seasons were so much better

Honest take: season 5 is insufferable to re watch
I'm through my second watch of the show, and man I can't stand re watching season 5. Honestly I didn't like the first time but on a re watch its even worse. I skip most of the part of each episode and only watch a few scenes to catch up so I can move on to season 6 which I liked a lot the first time. I'd say season 5 is one of the worst, it's not only boring it's too far fetched. Katherine should have died when Stefan stubbed her with the traveler's knife, no.need to keep this going. Aslo the drama between Damon and Elena is too hard to watch. Damon going crazy again because Elena broke up with him is just the laziest and worst writing ever, I mean been there done that, the writers needed to come up with something new here. Also the Augustine plot was kinda boring except from the flashbacks. I don't know, I do believe at this point the writers were totally out of ideas. what's your opinion?

Wouldn’t killing Klaus also kill all his hybrids?
Doing a rewatch, and in s4e9, a bunch of the hybrids (led by Tyler) formulate a plan to kill Klaus, but wouldn’t that be their own death sentence as well, since we know Klaus definitely turned them all into vampires?
We also know that Tyler is aware of this, as he almost “died” in an earlier episode when it was thought that Alaric’s evil side killed Klaus before Bonnie’s spell saved him. So, he knows that Klaus remaining technically alive also kept him alive. So why didn’t he at least warn anybody that it could be a possibility?
Also, nobody seems concerned anymore that Klaus might be the sire to all of their bloodlines? We especially know that Caroline is aware of Tyler’s susceptibility to death if Klaus dies, so why was she not trying to stop him from killing Klaus as soon as she found out his plan? Also the fact that they don’t know who is actually the sire to their bloodline yet, so they could all be at risk of dying if Klaus does.
