Details:

The event symbolized the celebration and collaboration of two of DPIIT’s flagship initiatives – the Startup India initiative and Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).

The ‘ONDC Startup Mahotsav’ is a unique collaboration between the ONDC and the Startup India initiative.

More than 5 lakh sellers have been onboarded on the platform, of which more than 70% are small or medium-sized sellers.

⭐️Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC):

The ONDC was launched in 2021 as a first-of-its-kind protocol, with a mission to democratize digital commerce.

ONDC is fully operational across India, with the digital infrastructure completed and rolled out to businesses and the public at large.

ONDC lowers entry barriers to digital commerce and provides a level playing field for all e-commerce players, especially small-scale businesses and those who have been digitally excluded.

2. Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying (DAHD)

Context:

DAHD and UNDP signed an MoU on the Digitalization of Vaccine Cold Chain Management, Capacity Building, and Communication Planning.

Details:

This strategic partnership aims to enhance the digitalization of vaccine cold chain management, capacity building, and communication planning in India.
Background:

Considering the large human population and livestock population in India with 142.86 Crore people, 53.57 Crore farm animals and 85.18 Crore poultry population, catering all the veterinary services to the doorstep of farmers and ensuring the nutritional security of the large population is a challenge.
Features of the collaboration:

With the digitalization of the entire vaccine stock management system and providing real-time information on vaccine stocks and flows, and storage temperatures, the inequities in vaccine supply will be addressed by managing constraints of infrastructure, management information systems, and human resources.
The vaccine cold chain management process will be monitored with the help of new-age technologies and artificial intelligence through the Animal Vaccine Intelligence Network (AVIN) developed by UNDP.
UNDP will support the DAHD to manage and deliver vaccines across the country in the right quantity, right quality, at the right time and right temperature with supportive supervision.
Through this MoU, technical assistance will be extended to the Centre of Excellence for Animal Husbandry (CEAH) to enhance its capabilities in animal husbandry practices.
The MoU also covers support in the planning and development of an effective and inclusive livestock insurance programme and crafting and implementation of an effective communication plan for the department which will help in ensuring better propagation and outreach of the department’s activities.
One Health Approach:

UNDP and DAHD will jointly work on Strengthening Animal Health with the One Health approach at the centre.
This step will contribute to the creation of a digital future via digitalization and remote temperature monitoring of cold chains by UNDP India.
This will ensure that vaccines are stored at an adequate temperature in the prescribed limit of 2-8 degrees Celsius which is important to increase immunization coverage and outreach.

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) announced two significant calls for proposals to catalyse innovation and technological advancement in the telecommunications sector.

These proposals are

🔸‘5G Intelligent Village’

The department has invited participants from
industry, MSMEs, Start-ups, academia and government departments involved in technology design, development and commercialisation of telecommunication products and solutions.

🔆Mercury Island

It is a small rocky island off The Diamond Coast, Namibia.

It is recognised by
BirdLife International and other global conservation groups as an Important Bird Area (IBA) for its significant coastal seabird breeding.

The island is only 750 metres long (North-South) and about 270 metres wide, reaching a height of 38 metres above sea level.

The island is
covered in a thick layer of bird guano (accumulated excrement of seabirds).

The island has a permanent population in the form of a two-person bird research station.

The island houses 16000 penguins, 1200 gannets and 5000 cormorants.

It facilitates citizens to report suspected fraud communication received over call, SMS or WhatsApp with the intention of defrauding like KYC

🔆Ladakh Achieves Full Functional Literacy

Ladakh Lieutenant Governor declared the union territory as having achieved Full Functional Literacy under the ULLAS – Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram, after having achieved more than 97% literacy.

The entire ULLAS model is
based on volunteerism in which volunteers register through the ULLAS Mobile App without any expectation of reward and simply teach the non-literates.

ULLAS – Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram or New India Literacy Programme (NILP) is a centrally sponsored scheme implemented from 2022-2027.

The scheme aligns with the recommendations of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and aims to empower those adults aged 15 years and above from all backgrounds who could not get due schooling and mainstream them with society.

🔆Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX)

Landmark 350th iDEX contract inked.

♻️Details :

Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX), the flagship initiative of the Ministry of Defence, signed the landmark 350th contract in New Delhi.

The contract was
inked with SpacePixxel Technologies Pvt Ltd for the design and development of a ‘Miniaturised satellite capable of carrying Electro-Optical, Infrared, Synthetic Aperture Radar, and Hyperspectral payloads up to 150 kgs’.

This enables innovation in space electronics, wherein many payloads earlier deployed on dedicated large satellites are now miniaturised.

The modular small satellite will
integrate multiple miniaturised payloads as per requirement, providing advantages like faster and more economical deployment, ease of manufacturing, scalability, adaptability, and less environmental impact.
