HAPPY LIFE:

Life is designed to be made of ups and downs. Without dark you cannot appreciate the light. Without unhappiness you cannot appreciate happiness. However, it’s not healthy to always live in a cycle of unhappiness and then happiness. Ideally, we’d like to be happy most of the time. There are two areas which make you unhappy:
Expectation
Ungratefulness
I want you to imagine this scenario, your birthday is coming up and you’re expecting your family to shower you with gifts. You’re expecting a huge party to show everyone how happy you are with your life. Your birthday arrives and your family buy you one small gift, the thing that you’ve been talking about for the last 6 months months, and you have a small get together with close friends and family. You cannot hide your disappointment, which in turn upsets your family and friends.
This is a daily example of people expecting things from others. This expectation factor occurs every single day. For example:
Expecting your husband to buy you flowers because you saw it on TV even though you know he’s busy
Expecting your wife to dress the way other women do on Instagram even though you know she doesn’t like to dress that way
Expecting your boss to give you that promotion even though you’ve never asked
Expectation creates an image within your mind and when that image is not fulfilled, you end up disappointed. If this happens once a month it doesn’t really have an impact, but if this is happening to you ten times a day then you will be unhappy with your life. Remove expectation and you’ll feel happier.
You cannot remove expectation when you are ungrateful for the experiences and items that you have. For example:
You don’t say thank you and appreciate your partner for cooking you dinner even when they’ve been at work all day
You don’t appreciate a colleague going out of their way to help you with a task
You don’t appreciate the good things in your life
You can change this by taking the time to focus on all the positive things that you have in your life. Once you do this you realise start to remove the expectation factor and combined, you are happy majority of the time.
