PAVE-Ethiopia Project: Online Questionnaire
African Law Students' Association (ALSA) Club in collaboration with ELSA (Ethiopian Law School Association), FIA (Faith in Action), and IFES (International Foundation for Electoral System) is preparing to conduct a project under the Coordination of 'Faith in Action'. Throughout history, we have seen changes brought about by violence, and such changes have provided both long-term and short-term relief from the agitating factor that caused the violence in the first place. Even the long-term positive effects of violence have left some wounds that even time cannot heal. After violence, peace may come and things may improve, but children remain orphans; mothers continue to mourn their deceased children; and the pain and broken spirit endure, passing down through generations. That is why we encourage our fellow students to choose conversation over confrontation, understanding over ignorance, and peace over violence every day.

Speaking from experience, Nelson R. Mandela tells us that no matter how interactable a conflict is , it is capable of peaceful resolution. That is, of course, if people decide not to choose violence over peace. If we choose to solve our problems peacefully, we can do so regardless of the nature and size of the conflict. Finally, we have to note that peace comes at a cost. It requires us to hold back our urge for vengeance and to use violence to get what we want. We need to sacrifice our pride and kill our egos to admit to the wrongs we have caused and apologise sincerely. Only then can we heal. Only then can we live in peace.
