Many governments think that economic progress is their most important goal. Some people, however, think that other types of progress are equally important for a country.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.
There are varying opinions regarding the importance of governments’ economic development. While some people consider it to be by far the most essential factor to achieve goals on agenda, I believe that there are other priorities that authorities should take into account.
On the one hand, there are several reasons why some people put emphasis on economic progress. Firstly, economic independence may be a key figure for a country to achieve prestige among other countries. Secondly, it can play a major role in attempting to influence other nations for the sake of own desires. For example, the USA, Russia and China, which are the richest countries of the world, have always tried to make an effect on the policies of less-developed countries using their power. Therefore, it is natural for citizens of every country to promote government plans of boosting its economy.
However, I would argue that other fields such as education and healthcare system should also be given a careful attention. As the basis for economic stability and development stems from better quality of education, I believe authorities should allocate enough funding for the growth of this sector. In turn, it may give its positive results in the form of well-competent and highly-educated workforce. Besides, the health of a nation should also be kept on high levels. Not only does it help to maintain the wellness of the country population, but also developing healthcare system can be beneficial aid for the budget of a country. That is because of foreigner patients who come to the country where health issues are well addressed and who are willing to pay for it.
In conclusion, although some individuals hold the view that economic progress should be given more attention, I would say that other pivotal factors including the wellness and literacy of population should be equally considered.
